Why did I bother?

For the past year, my friends and I have been working on a Custom Proxy version of the original
CotG game using the same frames but with our own personal art. We've been using the Ascension
Card Database to find good quality images of the original set. We'd draw our own interpretations of
the cards, photoshop the new art onto the original frame, print them out, and slip the paper with
the original card into a plastic card sleeve. Those who have played Magic the Gathering (or created
a custom cube) are probably familiar with this process

To my recent shock and dismay, the original Ascension Card Database has been taken down and
now redirects to the Stone Blade Entertainment website.

The good news was that I had already downloaded about half of the CotG cards onto my computer.
The bad news was that the other half was nowhere to be found.

Thankfully, the Wayback Machine Internet Archive exists. By plugging in the old URL, I was able to
find the original Card Database with all 379 cards!

Since I had already downloaded the original CotG files, I decided to upload them into an imgur
album to make it easier for anyone else trying to find the first expansion

Hopefully this post helps someone else who needs to access the original card images like we did.
Perhaps someday I'll dive into the Internet Archive again to gather up the other expansions

If I’m looking for an original artwork copy of vanilla Ascension, how can I tell when buying?

The old artwork game is called Ascension: Chronicles of the Godslayer, the new artwork
version is Ascension Deck Building Game. If you see Chronicles on the cover, you are getting
old art and frames.

That sounds like an awesome project! Do you have any pictures of the cards that you have
created so far?

Interested to see!

Also, I'm bummed that the old page is gone. There were a lot of old forum posts that I would
have liked to go back and check out after getting back into the game. I'm sure there is a lot of
knowledge lost sadly.
