2. An adverb clause

An adverb clause is a subordinate clause that modifies a verb, an adjective, or an adverb. It can answer any of the following
questions about the words they modify: When? Where? In what way? To what extent? Under what conditions? Or Why? An
adverb clauses begin with subordinating conjunctions.

Common Subordinating Conjunctions are:

After so that although than as though

As if unless as long as until because when

Before whenever even though where if while

Wherever in order that since

Subordinating conjunction introduces an adverb clause .

Examples: Put the package wherever you find the room. ( Adverb clause modifying verb: put ) ( Put where? )

I am tired because I have been chopping wood all day. ( Adverb clause modifying an
