Activity Guide and Evaluation Rubric – Task 4 Speaking Production

1. Activity Description

With this activity, you are expected to achieve the following learning
outcomes:

To express in an oral way the students’ personal, educational, and professional


information using appropriate pronunciation, grammatical structures and the
vocabulary studied in the contents.
The activity consists of:

Individual activity
Step 1 – Speaking practice meeting
From: March 8th to April 4th

OBJECTIVE: The practice meeting with the tutor will help you to prepare your video
simulating a job interview. In this space you can ask your tutor about the questions
and answers you are preparing for the video and you can practice your pronunciation
before you record the video.

INSTRUCTIONS

1.1. Create an account in Skype and send a message to your tutor. (Find your tutor’s
skype account in the forum). Each student must add his tutor as a contact in
Skype with the user provided in the forum.

1.2. Check the content of Units 1 (module 1 & 2) & Unit 2 (Module 3 & 4) from the E-
book.

1.3. Enter to the forum and check your tutor’s agenda. Each tutor will open an agenda
with different schedules for the student to set a date and hour to do the speaking
practice. Each student will get the link for the agenda in the forum and
through the email.

ATTENTION: This activity will be available until April 4th, so you can practice
and prepare to make a good video in the 2 weeks left.
It is the student’s responsibility to check the teacher’s agenda and to register to
practice. Please register yourself on time and do not leave for the last days
of the activity so you can do a good speaking production exercise.

1.4. Write a prompt with the questions and answers for the video simulating a job
interview. You should include Personal information (name, age, hometown,
marital status, occupation), hobbies, academic background, working experience,
personal qualities, skills and weaknesses related to your job. (Use the
vocabulary studied in Task 2 – Writing production).

listen to the pronunciation and repeat it as many times as you need to get the
correct pronunciation.

1.6. Log into your Skype account the day chosen for the practice meeting and 15
minutes before the hour write to the teacher and wait for the teacher to call.

You must not call the teacher unless he tells you to do it.

2.2 The video must be uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo or any cloud storage
(OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive)

2.3 Publish the link for the video in the forum so your tutor and your classmates can
give you feedback.

Check your classmates’ videos and make 2 comments about the activity. Include
information that needs to be considered and point out mistakes. Write about your
experience in the meeting and with the program natural readers.

A comment is not to write a compliment, not just saying “good work”, this will not be
graded as a comment.

ATTENTION: The student must participate in the practice meeting before uploading
the video.

For the development of the activity consider that:

and study the topics from Module 1 to Module 4. Participate and upload the video in
the forum of the activity.

2. General Guidelines for the Development of Evidences to Submit

For Individual evidence, consider the following:


• Before delivering the requested product, all the requirements indicated in
this activity guide must be checked.
• Before uploading the video, the students must attend the speaking practice
meeting with the tutor.

Please keep in mind that all individual or collaborative written products must comply
with the spelling rules and presentation conditions defined in this activity guide.
Regarding the use of references, consider that the product of this activity must
comply with APA style.
In any case, make sure you comply with the rules and avoid academic plagiarism.
You can review your written products using the Turnitin tool found in the virtual
campus.

Under the Academic Code of Conduct, the actions that infringe the academic order,
