Shapes that are congruent are exactly the same size and shape but may be flipped or rotated.
This means they have corresponding same length sides and corresponding same size angles,
so they can exactly fit over each other. if you aren’t sure, you could always use tracing paper.
Questions about congruence usually appear in other questions about shapes.

3) a) i) D is a pentagon
ii) C is an isosceles triangle
4) a) F is a parallelogram
Just writing ‘ they have same length sides and angles’ won’t get you any marks
5) Whereas sides BC and EF are the same length, AB is 3.3 cm but the corresponding side
DE is 4 cm, also AC is 6.1 cm and corresponds to DF which is 6.5 cm so are of different
lengths. ( 1 mark)
Therefore ABC and DEF cannot be congruent as congruent triangles have corresponding sides
the same length (1 mark)
Triangles A & E are congruent because their corresponding angles are the same size (1 mark)
& both have a corresponding side of length 8 cm between the angle of 47º & angle of 63º (1 mark)
