WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE’S MACBETH

Macbeth is a partly true story of a man who rose to power as King. Once he
becomes King, the power quickly goes to his head, causing him to abuse his
leadership abilities. As a result, several people close to him are killed by his own
hands. One of the major themes of Macbeth is how a person’s selfish ambitions
leads to abuse to power.

1. Based on the theme, why would a person use power in a negative way?

2. Provide an example of a leader who has abused their power. What specific
example of misuse of leadership can you provide?
