This letter is written in support of Jonathan Cleek for a position in your school district. Jonathan is a unique
individual who I believe will offer a great deal to the teaching profession. In his time here at Kennesaw State
University, he has demonstrated a high work ethic, a good grasp of the realities of education, and represents the
type of student we strive to send out into the community. Throughout the three courses in which he has been a
student of mine, Jonathan has displayed teaching skills, the use of content knowledge, and wonderful
communication techniques in working with school aged youth. Each assignment, lesson plan, and teaching
segment has been indicative of thoughtful insight, attention to detail and common-sense decision-making. His
lessons are practical, engaging, and appropriate for the diverse environments we have worked with in Cobb
County and surrounding schools.

Jonathan has experience in creating and facilitating school-time programming, curriculum development,
outdoor education, health instruction, and fitness-based activity planning. Given the current emphasis on
reducing childhood obesity, socio-emotional learning, and physical literacy, I feel that these experiences are
necessary to help build a learning environment that places emphasis on a sound mind and body, particularly as
schools have changed due to COVID-19. To this end, Jonathan has been prepared to use current technology in
schools, including pedometers, doc cams, tablets, and data management software. Notably, Jonathan is also a
military veteran who has added valuable insight on leadership to his peers in a manner that has provided an
ideal example for future majors at Kennesaw State University. His ability to work with others along with his
desire to achieve can be seen in other experiences such as helping faculty instruct at local conferences pre-
pandemic. Indeed, Jonathan has strong potential to be a great colleague to have on a schools’ faculty and be a
person of impact.

While Jonathan is a good student with incredible potential and a demonstrated record of excellence in service,
education, and teaching, something else about him should be considered. He is a caring, thoughtful, and
respectful individual who has navigated through a host of challenges in recent years with a sense of purpose. I
enthusiastically endorse his application without reservations. If you have any further questions, please do not
hesitate to contact me at bculp1@kennesaw.edu.

Respectfully yours,

Brian Culp, Ed.D.
