Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Describe how you could address Universal Design for Learning principles
to extend and support the learning experiences for all students.
For English Language Learners, translate or identify terms used in the activity to allow better understanding
and comprehension.
Lesson idea implementation: As you address the standards, what will students and teachers do? How will
the project be introduced? How long will it take to complete? How will student learning be assessed? How will
the final product be used to inform/differentiate learning? How will you extend the student learning to a
higher learning level? How will you conclude the lesson? How will you provide feedback to students about
their work? MINIMUM 2 paragraph overview.

Students will be able to demonstrate the ability to use interpersonal communication skills to enhance health.
The project will be introduced via PowerPoint presentation that emphasizes prior knowledge and skills that
will be needed in order to fulfill the requirements of this assignment. The entire project will take students
less than 10 minutes to complete, although they can take more of their own time to further complete.

Students will record a video-message that is up to 2-minutes in length that addresses this prompt: “I wish I
could talk to. . . about. . .” Students will be encouraged to think of someone they wish to address, whether
it’s a friend, significant other, grandparent, aunt, uncle, parent, sibling, teacher, coach, etc. The person
addressed can be alive and readily available to see the message or it can be made for someone who the
student no longer has a way of communicating with them anymore. Students will be assessed on effort,
creativity, and genuineness (meaning, did they take this seriously and think about it or did they just make
something up off of the top of their head?).
Reflective Practice: After designing this lesson idea, how do you feel the activities you created could impact
student learning? You may have designed this idea as an introductory activity to a unit of study. With that in
mind, what could be done to further extend the lesson? Are there other technology tools that could further
enhance this project?
I think this project has the potential not only for students to learn about effective communication, but how to

express their emotions and feelings in a healthy way. I chose to give an example of a finished project where I
made a video to my dad who has been gone for nearly 11-years now. It wasn’t easy to record a message
where I was imagining I was talking to him because it is still very hard to deal with sometimes, but I think it
did me some good afterwards. Students can use FlipGrid to record videos and messages to whoever they
want on any number of chosen topics. They could integrate it into another project or presentation like in
Microsoft Sway or PowerPoint or Nearpod.
