Students build Networks physically be able to do basic locomotor
and customize their learning environments in skills; while learning to create their own story
ways that support the learning process. by building and customizing their own digital
story.

What is the student learning goal for this lesson idea?

Students will be able to know how a digital story works and is made, while knowing what
basic good motor skill is performed.

How will this lesson be implemented? Check all that apply.

X Teacher-directed: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations.

X Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic for
presentation and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. Products of
learning will be uniquely designed. Teacher simply facilitates the learning in a lesson like this.

X Project-based and/or Publishable: Students are completing projects to demonstrate their learning
and the projects can be shared outside of the classroom. This objective could be reached by
displaying the project on the school’s morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom
blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing it via an outside source.

Lesson idea implementation:

Students will be able to see the digital story that is provided for them, before this they will be
questioned on their knowledge of digital stories; students then will be advised to pay
attention to the digital story and what it contains so they may also be able to make a
successful digital story. The teacher will be playing the digital story, pointing out key points
and providing help/ guidance as needed. Students will be asked to show progress and told
the good/improvements as needed. Students will create their power points for their digital
stories by using the app in school provided laptops. They will work on their PowerPoint
individually with teacher assistance. I do not expect a storyboard to be created beforehand,
more of a creative initiative from students as they make the power point. The lesson will be
concluded by submission of partial or whole assignment with a small questionnaire to
students about what they learned.

Managing the technology/engagement: Describe a way to use this technology in a way that
gets students actively involved in authentic tasks and contexts? How will you manage the
classroom behaviors on the technology:

There will be a plan that will be implemented to have students engaged in what the class is
learning. Students will be asked questions throughout the digital story being played to make
sure learning goals are being met. While students are building their own digital story
(meaning they get hands-on time) they will be monitored, motivated and being asked to
explain their work and how it relates to what we are leaning. Students will be timed on each
activity, questioning time they will be timed in sections of 30 minutes for two weeks, they will
also be working in the tech lab etc, all prudently done with the attention expanse their age
requires.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

I will be using the PowerPoint tool which I know allows engagement, representation and
expression/action. Components of the UDL framework. PowerPoint is a very versatile. This
tool allows students to access information that benefits their learning goal as they add or are
provided with it, inside of it. Such as visual aids and it being hands on. This tool also allows
students to be engaged by how interactive PowerPoint can be and allows different features
to be used such as the motion of a page being flipped. This tool also simultaneously does the
“express” part through it being able to build and create things into it.

Reflecting on enhanced learning:

This Lesson will impact students exponentially; because this lesson is conducted in a way that
all types of learners are able to be engaged. I look forward to seeing part of the lesson excites
students the most because that way as an educator I can cater to my students needs more
efficiently.
