Lesson Idea
Isabella Smith
☐ Teacher-directed: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations.
☐ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic for
presentation and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. Products of
learning will be uniquely designed. Teacher simply facilitates the learning in a lesson like this.
☐ Project-based and/or Publishable: Students are completing projects to demonstrate their learning
and the projects can be shared outside of the classroom. This objective could be reached by
displaying the project on the school’s morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom
blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing it via an outside source.
I will present the eBook that I created to the class. I will then introduce the task to students,
which includes creating their own eBook presentation. It will include subtraction problems
but can be of any topic of choice. I will guide students through the creation of their
presentations and show them how to navigate the PowerPoint app. Students will then insert
their stories and images into their PowerPoint. I will walk around the classroom, offering help
and support. Students will have the opportunity to share with partners and give/receive
feedback. Lastly, I will review the finished projects to see where my students are in achieving
the standards. I will share another eBook example if there is time left.
Managing the technology/engagement: Describe a way to use this technology in a way that
gets students actively involved in authentic tasks and contexts? How will you manage the
classroom behaviors on the technology:
I will set time limits for the planning, executing, and sharing steps of the lesson. Students will
have time to plan out their PowerPoint. They will have a choice of their topic, so they should
stay engaged easily. I will redirect when students are off task and play quiet music during
independent work time. I will guide them through PowerPoint at the same time, so they see
step-by-step what to do.
students choose the images, story, and style of their presentation. Students can
increase/decrease font size to help any visually impaired students.
