☒ Integration Level: We would like to see ALL lessons/activities reach this level. The project is student-
driven. Students have “Voice and Choice” in the activities, selecting the topic of study and determining the
technology tool to demonstrate mastery of the standard. The teacher becomes more of a facilitator.
☐ Expansion Level: The projects created are shared outside of the classroom, publishing student work and
promoting authorship. This could be reached by showcasing the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, or publishing via an outside source.
The teacher will then model how to distinguish between parts of a story with the story “The Three Little
Bears”. The teacher will then allow students to pick their stories and get started. This activity will take two
class sessions to complete. One class session for reading and gathering information, and one class session for
creating their PowerPoints. Students who need extra support will be provided with a graphic organizer to help
organize their thoughts while gathering information from their books. Once the students have finished their
creating their presentations, the teacher will have them play their movie for their classmates. The students
will be given feedback in the form of a classroom discussion where their peers and teacher say what they
liked about their presentation. The teacher will then give extra feedback in the form of a rubric that will be
given to each student prior to the activity so that they knew the requirements and what was expected of
them.
Reflective Practice:
I think that the activities created would impact student learning by increasing their comprehension of the
content. Students will be engaged in this activity because they will have choice in the story that they choose,
and will be creating their own movie. Because of this, students will be gain a better understanding of the
standard being addressed as they are interested in their work. Students will be reading, “writing” ( either in
their graphic organizers or on their PowerPoint slides), and speaking which would give them many
opportunities to see the material and gain better comprehension. This lesson would be done in the middle of
a unit so that students have a base knowledge and can build on prior knowledge but also can be extended
into the next parts of the unit. This lesson can be further extended by allowing asking students to pick out
specific story elements as well such as conflict, setting, plot etc.
