Exploration POV Narrative:
-Often, the history of exploration is told from the point of view of the explorers. However, the historical events of the time
period are remembered very differently by the Native tribes.
-For this writing assignment, you will select an explorer or Native tribe and write about their encounter from the point of
view of the explorer or Native tribe you selected.

Project Requirements:
RESEARCH
-Once you have chosen your explorer or Native tribe, research their life to learn about their personality and their
explorations. Also include who they encountered in the Americas and learn about their culture and location.
PLANNING
-After you have finished researching, use your planning sheets to map out a short narrative about the encounter between
the explorer and the Native tribes. Your story should be written in 1st or 3rd person point of view.

Use your research to imagine how your person felt about the encounter. Your stories must include historical facts about the
explorer, Native peoples, setting, ect., although the story itself is fictional. Think about the following questions as you plan
your story:

BIBLIOGRAPHY
- A bibliography tells the reader of your research project where you found your information. This is important to the reader,
so they could go and look at your resources if they wanted more information.
- A bibliography has a very specific format. The information for each book, article, or webpage must be written in a very
specific way. The information is called a citation for your resource.
- Once you have the citation finished for each of your resources, put them in alphabetical order by the last name of the author.
Double check your format, and include your bibliography at the end of your research project.
- The information you need for the citations can be found on the cover, title page, and copyright page of your books. For
websites, the information can be found on the website itself.
