Method Alignment Peer Revision Activity

Instructions: Read over the work of your peer. Complete the handout without any conversation with the
author. You may only use the words on the document to complete the handout. By not talking to the
author you will be able to get a true evaluation of whether or not each step of the process has been clearly
communicated in a manner that would allow for the research method to be replicated by another
researcher.

For each step of the author’s data gathering process write out the details as they are described in the
paper. Once you have completed this step answer the questions which follow. (Not all projects
will require as many steps as spaces provided here.)

Step 1: Author will deliver surveys to teachers for the deliverance to students.

Step 2: Author will have teachers time student’s responses, and have students answer the questions at the end
of the process.

Step 3: The results of the examination when compared with the student responses to screen time each week
will motivate a correlation between screen time and academic performance.

Step 4: Using these results, the Author intends to delve deeper int the composition of a students screen time by
evaluating the answers of which they spend more time on….. Video Games or Social Media.

Step 5: The results of this experiment and the student responses will help the author in conveyed a distinct
correlation between dedication to specific screen times and academic performance.

Step 6:

Step 7:

(If the project has more than seven steps to the data gathering process please attach a separate piece of
notebook paper to this assignment.)

What is the research question? To what extent does thespecific screen time of Teens impact their
academic performance?

What is the method to be used by the researcher to answer the question? Mixed – method.
Correlational, experimental.

What are the data points to be gathered/observed/collected by the researcher? The data points are
test scores, GPA, screen time, and specific dedication to social media or video games.

Does the study require participants? If so, how many participants/how are they selected/how
will they be recruited? What details are missing? Yes, a bunch. The author has a plan ro be aided
by teachers and their classes.

If the study is relying on secondary data (previously published studies/reports) how will these
sources be selected? Does the researcher discuss what tools will be created/used to evaluate the
sources? What details are missing? The research is developed by the author therefor, her sources
are backed by student performance.

If you were being asked to replicate this research study on your own what questions would you
need to have answered before you began? What are the specific test questions?

How will the identified method answer the research question? Use the explanation provided in
the paper. It will allow for the correlation between the screen times and academic performance
and it experiments on the performance of a relevant test group.

Does the author establish an effective connection between the method and the research project?
Explain. Not really, Author has yet to complexify a detailed description of the method process but
is working on it.
