welcome to your first destination. My name is
___ and I will be your tour guide for this
destination”
1 member from the activity committee will be in
each Destination Session at all times throughout
the Destination Sessions
o That person will post activity questions
google doc in chat for students to write
down in notebook
Students will have 15 minutes in each Destination
Session to talk to the employer they are currently
with.
o Employer asks Ice Breaker Question (5
minutes)
o Employer Information Sharing (5 minutes)
o Student Q&A (5 minutes)
o Students will ask and answer employers
questions that were given to them
Technology will broadcast politely there is 3
minutes remaining.
At 15-minute mark activity committee person will
politely announce to the students and employer
that time is up, and they have to move onto their
next destination session.

Once everyone is back, explain everyone is
entered into the raffle

basket, Gv blanket (see below) & 5 Career Center
prize packages put together by Kristie
Prizes will be available for pick up at the Devos
Career Center
Kristie will take students name and contact them
to arrange pick up time

Virtual World of Work Event Outline (all times approximate)
11:15am – Employers and GVSU Career Center staff join Zoom call
11:28am – Begin admitting students into Zoom
Good afternoon and welcome to the Virtual World of Work Career Exploration
Program. My name is Kolin Herron and I am in the HTM 240 event planning
class. We have been working with the GVSU Career Center to assist in the
planning and implementation of this event. We have a great program planned for
you and are excited to welcome you all today.
Today we will be traveling through the World of Work to help you learn more
about career opportunities, meet with some great employer partners and build
your career network. Our HTM students will serve as your “tour guides” as you
meet with different employers throughout the event.
At this time I would like to introduce our employer partners. You probably have
noticed they all have different backgrounds. We have asked each employer to
change their Zoom background to reflect their favorite travel destination, as I
think we are all wishing we could travel right now.
Employer Introductions (Kolin)

o Welcome back and we hope you had a great time exploring and traveling
to different employer destinations. How many of you were able to get 3
questions answered? How about 5 questions? Well guess what – you
are ALL entered into the raffle drawing for our prizes!!!
o HTM student picks 5 names of winners
Kristie will record student names and contact them to arrange pick
up of prizes from DeVos Career Center
GVSU Career Center has a lot of prize/swag/giveaway items and
Kristie will put together 5 prize packages.

big thank you to our employer partners. We appreciate your support and
encouragement of GVSU students and career exploration.
o At this point, we have some time left for open networking. Our employers
are available to stay a bit longer and answer any additional questions.
Students can leave zoom or stay and chat with employers. If all students leave,
event ends early (which is totally fine)
If we have a few students who stay, it might be helpful to have breakout rooms
available to chat. Just depends on number.
