Family Emergency Preparedness Plan for Earthquake

Performance Standards: The learners develop a family emergency preparedness plan


to guide them on what to do before, during, and after an earthquake.
The Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council is responsible for
initiating and supervising activities related to Disaster Prevention and Mitigation,
Disaster Response, Disaster Recovery and Disaster Preparedness within their
jurisdiction. As a member of this organization, you are tasked to create your own Family
Emergency Plan for Earthquake which can also be used by other families in your
barangay. In order to ensure that every family member will understand and remember
the plan, you are expected to utilize a creative visual aid such as an infographic. Your
product will be graded according to the following standards: completeness, clarity,
organization, presentation, and accuracy
It should contain pertinent information about the following:
1. What are you going to do BEFORE an earthquake to ensure safety of each
family members particularly children, elderly, pregnant, PWD and pets?
What are the necessary steps to avoid injuries related to falling objects? Or make
sure that your home is “earthquake-proof” or “earthquake-resistant”
What are the contents of your emergency bag?
2. What are you going to do DURING an earthquake in various scenarios?
a. DAYTIME during weekdays (children are at home, adults are at work)
b. At Night or weekends (every member is at home)
c. out on the street (driving and walking)
3. What are you going to do AFTER an earthquake?
Aside from the infographic you will submit the following
A. A 5-7-minute video explaining the plan to your family members especially children
B. A 2-3 minute vlog (bag raid type) explaining the content of your emergency bag
C. A copy of floor plan of your home- use arrows to indicate the escape routes from all
important parts of the house
D. A copy of your community map indicating where and how will you reach your meeting
place just in case an emergency happens when not every member is at home and it’s
no longer safe to return home.
E. Identification card- laminated indicating the following:
Name and contact numbers of every family member
Distant Contact Person (Someone not living with you but knows you)
Contact numbers of important emergency services (PNP, BFP, Ambulance)
