CASE STUDY 1

1. Plan international faced problem due to their outdated and manual systems. As it is a worldwide
organization and they need to make quick decisions in critical situations. It used to take too
much time to locate the appropriate resources in the emergencies. Which directly affected their
decision making.
Management: Paper documents and spreadsheets were used to keep employees track.
Employees were unable to update their records. It was all because of the outdated system Plan
used to use.
Organization: Plan international had no proper record about the experiences and skills of
people.
Technology: whenever emergencies strike, Plan had to send an email to everyone asking about
the suitable person who can help in that critical situation. It used to consume too much time
searching for people who are available to help and have appropriate skills and experience.

2. The cloud-based HR system was the solution to this problem. With the help of this Plan can see
data about all its workers at the time of emergency. This system was accessible through the
Internet for all users. This system fulfilled all the requirements of Plan International. It also
saved their time and efforts.

3. Human resources are so important at Plan International because they deal and work with
human. It’s the people who help in recovery at the time of disaster. Organization is invaluable
without human resource. The HR system helped in saving time.

4. These systems improved operational efficiency by providing the easy access to whole workforce.
All the data is managed and up to date. These systems provided better services in short time.
The efficiency was increased because the time and money both were saved because of these
systems. It used to be quite hard for Plan international to communicate worldwide but these
systems made communication very easy.

5. These systems improved decision making a lot. Quick decisions were made with the help of
these systems. It made the whole process much easier and faster.

Examples: 1. Plan show its donors exactly how their contribution were spent and what the
results are.

2. Plan identify and dispatch workers to emergency areas which has saved more lives.
