[15] Description of Equipment
The function of the Acoustic Transmitter Model FlexSonicTM ATX10 is to evaluate the incoming acoustic power spectrum from the
Acoustic Detector model AC100, and make a determination of alarm condition.
The ATX10 consists of electronics housed in a cylindrical enclosure in type of explosion protection flameproof enclosure “d”,
manufactured from stainless steel. The flameproof enclosure base includes 2-6 cable entry ports and the cover includes a glass
window to view the status of the device.
The ATX10 is to be connected to the Acoustic Detector model AC100 and provides the industry standard 4-20mA signal w/HART and
LED indication for Normal Operation, Alarms and Faults.
Alternatively, the ATX10 can be connected remotely (max. 500 feet (152 m) cable length) to the Acoustic Detector model AC100
through the Stainless Steel Model STB Sensor Termination Box.
Furthermore, the ATX10 can be connected to the FlexView® Model UD10, using the UD10’s LCD display to provide the visual
indication for Normal Operation, Alarms and Faults.

The optical radiation output of the ATX10 with respect to explosion protection, according to Annex II clause 1.3.1 of the Directive
94/9/EC is covered in this certificate, since the ATX10 includes non-array indicator LEDs used to show equipment status.

Installation instructions
All cable entry devices and blanking elements shall be certified in type of explosion protection flameproof enclosure “d”, suitable for the
conditions of use and correctly installed.

Unused apertures shall be closed with suitable flameproof certified blanking elements.

For ambient temperatures below –10 °C and above +60 °C use field wiring suitable for both minimum and maximum ambient
temperature.

The field wiring terminal connections are certified for a single wire in size from 0.2 to 2.5mm2, (or two conductors with same cross
section 0.2 to 0.75mm2). The screws must be tightened down with a torque of 0.4 to 0.5 Nm.

The metal housing must be electrically connected to earth ground.
