BIOTECHNOLOGY IN BIOECONOMY
INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT
Bioeconomy plays a major role in flexing the SDG number 2 which is Zero Hunger. Since
there are pandemic covid-19 spreading globally, many countries have been affected with the
prevalence of malnutrition and wasting. Majority of them were children. Through
bioeconomy, it can provide platform that produce safer food products which can treat the
malnutrition at affected countries. Since hunger or starvation occur globally, bioeconomy can
ensure there is no export restrictions in terms of trading agricultural of food products across
the countries. Next, by investing and merge agriculture productivity such as rural
infrastructure, technology, research and development, bioeconomy can enhance the quality of
the food product production and increase the income of small-scale food producers. This can
enlarge market opportunities in securing food stock to the land. Furthermore, bioeconomy
can enhance the food security at poor countries by implementing global food trade since there
are 2 billion people has been reported to not have regular access to the safe, nutritious, and
sufficient food. Lastly, bioeconomy can ensure sustainable food production system through
inventing genetically modified crops that can be preserved over long period of time. This can
help in bringing sufficient natural resources that will prevent hunger and starvation.
