PDEA Northern Mindanao Nabs Bukidnon public school teacher in
drug bust
 The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Cagayan de Oro
City arrested the Grade 9 public school teacher, Rey Sungahid
in the Old Damulog National High School Compostela,
Damulog, Bukidnon.
 Seize from Sungahid were 4 sachets such containing2 grams
of a substance believed to shabu with an estimated street
value of Php 16,000
 Because of this Sungahid will face the violation of Republic Act
9165 or th Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
 This is why PDEA wants to implement random drug tests not
only on the students but for the whole faculty as well.

Reaction/Comments As a student, it is very unexpected. Because I thought teachers will

not do things like this, but I’m wrong. Now I realize that If you are a
teacher, better choose to guide your students inn the right path and
not to bring them in the wrong way. And it is right that he will face the
consequence, in order for all the peoplebespecially the teacher, that
even the teacher can’t avoid the law. And to warn everyone that not
everyone you knows only have good ways, but there’s always bad
ways.

Yes, I’m definitely affected, it is because the suspect is a teacher, and I am a student. I
can’t believe that this things happen in the world. But as a student, I need to be stronger
keep the trust of the teachers surround me because my mindset still okay for the
goodness of the teacher
2. How the news helps the people in your community?
This news helps the community through reminding all the people about this law that
happens in real life. And even you’re a teacher, you will be arrested. Because law is law.
And so much for that, it also means that drugs are not good in health because this things
is prohibited by the law for that good sake of the people.
3. Is the news important to your family?
Yes, it is important to my family. It is because to make themselves more concern in the
status of their children. And to guide their children to not take the illegal matters that
against the law and the example for that is Drugs. Because of the news like this, the
family oriented how the drugs destroy the life of a person though it’s a professional or
not. So better to guide your children properly.

 1. What is your personal opinion about the news of the PDEA operation?
The news about PDEA operation are very good and helpful for the community. Because
they really do their job and creating and develop a country a drug-resilient society. Their
operations in different ways really gave their intense effort in combatting drugs. And
addition for that, the different agencies united to make this campaign easy especially
when it talks about giving awareness to the students of the curriculum.
If the government will really do their job without dirty works, I’m pretty sure that they
will achieve their goal.
2. What do you think is the effects of this scenario to the following:
a. Family – The family will feel that they are safe because of this Government’s program. But in
contrary, the family that are involve with drugs may felt nervous because every moment
from now, they may caught.
b. School – the school will be safe from drugs and will be have knowledge about this drugs.
This will help the students to be aware the result and consequences in involving drugs. Were
it’s not only affect oneself but also others.
c. Community – Through this, the community will be clean. All people that involve with this
drugs will be arrested. And in this scenario, some will not get arrested because of the
connection from the highest people. But I think this won’t happen after all if the
government’s agencies will do their job.

Lesson 2

1. What is the difference between risk and protective factors on substance use and abuse?
Risk factors can increase a person’s chances for drug abuse, while protective factors can reduce
the risk. Risk factors abuses the drugs whereas the protective factors uses drugs as a factor to
help themselves. However, drugs may use as a protective factor in the start, but if the person
abuses it and won’t control using drugs which is abusing it, it will be called risk factors the.

2. How are you going to prevent drug abuse? Cite your personal opinions
In my own opinion, it is hard to end the drug abusing especially when someone is very addicted
to it. However, it is better to start off slowly if you truly want to prevent abusing it. And through
this, you will not notice that you already stop and also you learned to prevent from it. And aside
from that in order to prevent this drug abuse, learn to help others were telling others that it is
very heavy thing and that it could lead to serious illnesses or even death. And if you already
know the negative impact of the illegal drugs, use your mind to not use it anymore in your life.
