World History - Religious Conflict Today vs. Protestant Reformation

The Islamism insurgency in Burkina Faso is a hotbed of religious extremism. In 2017,

gunmen with Islamic influence attacked the Christian minority villages and killed people

wearing the jewelry with a sign of a cross. Seventy thousand people were forced to flees their

homes into a safe zone. The extremist intentionally targets to drive away non-Muslims from their

midst. The religious conflict is similarly related to the 1525 butcher of the roman rebels. Luther’s

teachings on Christianity spiked two Christian polarities which resulted into rebellion of some

Christians. The progressive impact of Luther’s teaching’s gave rise to dispatch of Christians

from the catholic teachings. Luther focused his attention on the clergymen corruption and

purgatory thought of ownership.

Similarly, in April 2019, Sri Lanka witnessed a case of hyped religious violence. In a

Sunday, a catholic church infrastructure was bombed by the Islamic extremist. The extremist

group took credit of the attack that killed more than 250 people. The tension had built up

concerning the conversion on Christian beliefs and disagreement on the Muslim and catholic

doctrines. Islamist extremist believed that people who do not belief on the Islamic doctrines are

worth death. Therefore, they were not supposed to dominate within the world. Similarly, the

protestant reformation based their argument on justification by faith. The tentative disparities in

faith brought about the two conflicting parties.

Material compensation in church has raised much concern on the theological perspective

of many believers. The issue of prosperity gospel has led to different partitioning of the

protestant churches in the world. The conflicting parties pose a question on the intention of

Christianity on believers. Some belief that they are entitled to wealth as a source of Christian

belief and some belief on the saving power of Christ. As per 2020 statistics 30 percent of

churches splinted due to the approach on preaching on prosperity. The protestant reformation had

a similar aspect of disparities in material wealth. Martin Luther was against the corruption

among the clergymen within the catholic religion. Beliefs on materialism has triggered Christian

conflict establishment of more denominations.
