Reflective teaching and learning process enriches the student process in learning. The use
of the meaningful learning theory provides an avenue for constructing knowledge based on the
available content or knowledge of the learner. In most cases, meaningful learning theory utilizes
examples and instance which the learner has an encounter with or learnt through other
educational process (Sousa, et al., 2015). After the introduction to familiar instance, the learner
can then link a new information to the past information through available cognitive structure
therefore provide a platform for building on verbatim basis or on existing previous knowledge.
The learning theory is advantageous since it initiates learning through initial creation of interest
and trust of the learner before it introduces a new concept (Sousa, et al., 2015). Once the students
gain interest on the content, the teacher introduces a new concept building on the previous
Instructional design requires a guideline to direct the ideas and improve the
information through various constructive process. The theories play a pivotal role in designing an
educational setting to meet the learning requirements. Taking for example, in a learning process
pragmatic perspective allows the educator to structure and restructure the curricula to fit the
specific needs as well as developing evaluation approaches towards a selected learning theory
implementation procedure. More so, learning theory provides a learning objective as a well as
the instructional strategies. With the wide variety of Adult learning theories such as behavioral,
cognitivism, experimental learning, social theory, motivational models and reflective models
provides a wide range of tools to choose the approach to the learning process.
