Which primary goal of the health system do you think should be the priority in the
Philippines? Why?

The issues in the health care system of the Philippines revolves around the lack of interest
in the field, decision-makers in the health sector sees health information technology as a
novelty rather than practicality, disadvantaged areas are deprived of health services and
technologies, lack of manpower, underpaid health workers and the like.

These issues that our country has been dealing with can be alleviated if there is a
significant improvement when it comes to responsiveness. The ability to respond with
concrete actions accompanied with long-term solutions should be the primary goal of the
health system. Responsiveness is said to provide satisfactory health services and engage
patients as active partners where their needs, medical or non-medical, and expectations were
met. This responsiveness is to have a deeper definition and wide range of coverage.
Responsiveness goes beyond the needs of the patients as it also should cover the needs of the
health workers that make a health system fully functional. It can only provide satisfactory
services to patients if the roots of all issues that affect the health system would be resolved
with urgency, effectivity, and equality for both patients and health workers.

Having a sense of urgency, effectivity and equality, better services would be given to all
Filipinos no matter the status. It would be accompanied with relevant and effective plans and
concrete actions that has a long-term solution rather than inconsistent short-term ideas.
