Good morning listeners. It’s ten o’clock in the morning and you are listening to Special
Report. I’m Yudha Iskandar from KWX Radio. The first report today is about floods hitting

Jakarta. Jakarta, one of the largest business (1) city in South East Asia, (2) is paralyzed with
rising floodwaters. Cars and motorcycles broke down (3) midway their journeys as water
(4) inundated almost all parts of the city. Jakartans were left (5) stranded because most
public transport could not (6) operate on roads that turned into rivers. Also, government

offices have been (7) force to close and business activities are (8) paralyzed. Some schools
told their students to study at home. Floods happen in Jakarta every year, but non-stop,

severe rain this year (9) has affected the central business district. Residents in low-lying
regions said that the floodwaters has reached 2 – 3 meters high. Jakartans regularly

criticize the government for its slow action to upgrade (10) infrastructure to avoid
