on page 35 again. Then write a paragraph about one opinions you
expressed in exercise 10 above. Brainstorm ideas, narrow down you
topic, and the write. Remember to use modal auxiliaries

Smoking must be banned in all restaurant and bars.

Making list

 If you smoke in a restaurant or a bar you can make someone feels uncomfortable.
 Non-smokers can absorb unwanted smoke
 Smoking is harmful for health
 Smoking environment damages of restaurants and bars
 Smoking is nasty not only for the customers also it can be for the employer’s health.
 Families with children come to the restaurants and they too are exposed to smoke
 Smoking can cause cancer to vulnerable people
 Customers can feel disgusted with smokers and probably they will avoid to go to the
restaurants or bars.

Opinion Paragraph

I agree that smoking must be banned in all restaurants and bars for many reasons. First of all,
many people are unaware of the consequences of inhaling smoke unconsciously as this can
seriously affect health because they can get cancer or other respiratory problems. Therefore, I
think that these places shouldn’t allow smoking because smoking especially in closed spaces can
make customers feel uncomfortable or disgusted, so they will probably avoid going to those
places. On the other hand, smoking could have serious environmental damage in these places,
since smoke can spread throughout the air and could affect families with children who come to
restaurants and are also exposed to smoke, since non-smokers could absorb unwanted smoke.
Another point is that smoking should be unpleasant not only for clients but can also be
detrimental to the health of the employer. Finally, smoking shouldn’t be allowed in all
restaurants and bars as it can cause various health problems for customers and employers in
these places.
