Dear sir/ma’am,
I’m writing this cover letter to present myself to you in a written form as best as I could. I wish
to keep a sense of brevity while writing this letter and will not dive too deep into the things I
write about in the letter.
I’m currently studying at the University of Malaya (4th Semester) and I wish to explain why I’m
applying to your firm as an Operations Support Associate (Intern).
Firstly, I believe my academic results have been poor compared to the standards that the many
bright and intellectual people set nowadays. However, I firmly believe that my results fail to do
justice by me and fail to reflect several aspects of my work ethic. I will not bore you and write
the reasons why I think that is. But let me explain why I’m applying as an intern to your firm.
As a pretext, I should mention that I find (from introspection) that I am interested in many
different fields of knowledge and work and I try not to make any major life decisions without
thinking about the purpose I’ve rendered for myself. On a broad scale, one of my purposes is to
be an honorable servant to society (Even though I’m not fond of how people try to operate
themselves in society). There are several intermingled reasons why I’m applying to your firm
which all stem from my purposes. The first of which- I’m currently exploring the knowledge
domains of electricity, technology and philosophy because I am curious about the direction our
civilization is headed towards. Secondly, I have been curious about data analysis from the day I
heard about it. I do have a short background in programming. I’ve taken C++ and Python as
university courses. I must mention though, I’m not particularly proficient in C++. But am so in
Python. I had created a web app in Python in about 3 days. Thirdly, I am curious to see how I
feel about and perform in a corporate environment before I graduate and go off to start my
career life. The bottom line, I would love to work as an intern at your company to both help you
in your cause and feed my curiosity and purpose.
I genuinely hope you’ll consider me as a viable choice of a candidate even though my academic
performance seems substandard to the naked eye. In the end, I would like to thank you
beforehand for taking the time to read the letter and also apologize if I have digressed in any
part of it.
