2. A cloud with a net charge of – 12.0 C exerts an attractive force of 7.7 x 10 3 N on a person 1500 m
below. Calculate the magnitude and the sign of the charge on the person.

3. Three 100 statC charges are equally spaced on a straight line. The separation of each charge
from its neighbor is 100 cm. Find the force on the center charge if:
a) All the charges are positive
b) All the charges are negative
c) The rightmost charge is negative and the other two positive
