Ethical Implications of the Human Genome Project

The Human Genome Project ran from 1990 to 2003 with the goals of identifying the genes in human DNA, determining the sequences of chemical base pairs that make up human DNA, storing this information in databases, and finding ways to apply this knowledge to improve health. It also studied the ethical, legal, and social implications of genomic research, such as how to ensure fairness in the use of genetic information, protect privacy and confidentiality, and address issues affecting individuals and society.
