AN ACTION RESEARCH
GILTRHOD L. DINGDING
I . Context Rationale
The pandemic has gravely threatened the stability of the educational system. Hence,
several countries have enacted various methods to address this situation and continue
providing quality education to the students. The Department of Education in the Philippines has
implemented its efforts through the DepEd order (DO) no.012,s. 2020 “Adoption of basic
Education Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP)for School Year 2020-21 in the light of the
COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, ”DepEd shall employ multiple Learning delivery modalities
(LDMs) to ensure the continued provision of learning opportunities to its learners, while
protecting the health and safety of both its personnel and learners. This can be done through
blended learning, distance learning in homeschooling.
1. What is the immediate reaction of the respondents and their parents when the
lessons in the class were in a form of a module?
2. Which modules were difficult to answer? Those written in English or in Filipino?
3. How do they find the lessons in the module?
4. What is their perception about modular lessons?
5. What attitudinal changes are brought about by modular learning?
1. To visit the homes of the said parent/student with attendance problem in returning
the module on time so as to know the reasons behind it.
2. Soliciting feedbacks from parents during the retrieval of the module.
The Respondent of the study will be the Grade 7 students of Tomas Cabili Natonal High School
(TCNHS) enrolled in S.Y. 2020-21. Specifically, there are 11 sections of Grade 7 with more or
less 319 students enrolled. The seven sections under the researcher in Araling Panlipunan 7
will be the respondents.
When all permissions allowing the researcher to conduct a study are sought from the Division
Superintendent of Iligan City, and from the Principal of Tomas Cabili National High School, the
gathering of data will begin.
Through the Grade 7 class advisers, the researcher-made questionnaires will be given to the
parents of the respondents for them to answer. Then when all questionnaires are retrieved, data
will be tabulated, analyzed and interpreted.
Ethical Considerations
The seven sections under the researcher in Araling Panlipunan 7 subject are the
respondents. This paper will be using a descriptive method or design. It will be correlative in
nature.
To safeguard the ethical aspect of this study, a letter will be sent to the school Principal allowing
her to conduct the research in the school where the researcher is currently teaching. After
permission is granted, the researcher-made questionnaire will be administered to the
respondents.
The respondents will be briefed and be informed about the study. They will be told that their
honest and voluntary answers will be treated with utmost confidentiality. Their answer will not
affect their grades, so they are free to answer the questionnaires.
Validity of Research Instrument
In conducting this study, a self-made questionnaire will be drafted. Some ideas on what items to
consider in the questionnaire are due to some researches already made. Worthy to mention are
the researches made by Choo, et al. (2015), Joshi, S. (2019). and Muller, et al. (2014). Their
studies have helped shape the questionnaire to be used in this present study. Both
questionnaires underwent several corrections and enhancement. One of these was to phrase all
items in declarative form rather than in interrogative form. Another one was to consider items
that were relevant and important to the study.
The conduct of the pre-test and post-test will be done one student at a time and
observing maximum health protocols for the new normal as instituted by the government’s IATF.
This health protocols will include: temperature checking, hand washing or disinfection, stepping
on foot bath and social distancing.
The researchers will be observing highest standards in research ethics during the preparation
and implementation of this action research. The researchers will ensure that the research
proposal and final report submitted are unbiased, honest, reliable, and more importantly of their
original work. They will reference and cite all the studies and literature they will include in both
their research proposal and final report. The researchers will submit anti-plagiarism declaration
attesting the originality of their study.
