To Whom It May Concern:

It is with pride that I compose this letter of recommendation for Mya Ackerman. I have known
Mya for the last four years. I had the privilege of being her English Teacher for both her
freshman year and senior year at Blackstone Valley Tech and I have served as her class advisor
for the last three years. Mya is thoughtful, respectful and kind. In addition to these qualities, Mya
has proven herself to be a focused and motivated young woman.
Mya has proven her dedication to her academic career here at Blackstone Valley Tech by
consistently enrolling in Honors and AP level courses. She completes all of the work required of
her and she does so successfully. Mya’s hard work and dedication to her academic courses has
earned her a position in our National Honor Society. I have no doubt that her efforts and focus
will continue in her post-graduation endeavors.
Mya has also been successful in her chosen vocational-technical program: Culinary Arts. She has
participated in SkillsUSA, a national organization that empowers its members to become world-
class workers, leaders, and responsible citizens through vocational-technical training. She has
been a competitor for the last three years and has won both gold and silver medals in Restaurant
Service. Mya’s accomplishments in Culinary Arts have also earned her a position in our National
Technical Honor Society which focuses on excellence in our vocational-technical programs.
Mya’s achievements in her academic and vocational-technical courses are not the only way she
demonstrates her commitment to Blackstone Valley Tech. She is also a member of our volleyball
team and has been a member since her freshmen year. Mya is committed to her sport and her
teammates which has earned her a position as a team captain. Her ability to lead will serve her
well in the future regardless of the college or career path she takes.
It is with great certainty in the success that Mya is, and will be, that I recommend her to you. She
is a wonderful young woman that has much to offer and I wish her all the success that she truly
