1 Purpose of this document

This document describes how to install the Windows Update patches.

YYYY = year. MM = month, Ver = version.

5 Precaution
 By applying these patches, all past patches are applied.
 The necessity of applying prerequisite patches is described in the release note.
 The meaning of each “Return Value” in a log file is as follows.
Table 1 Return Value table
Return Value Description
0 Success
3010 PC reboot is necessary to complete the installation.
2359302 Already installed. So skip the installation.
1642 Unnecessary patch. So skip the installation.
-2145124329 “Did not run. So skip the installation.”
There are two cases,
(1)do not need to be applied
(2)the prerequisite Windows Update has not been applied and
will not be executed.
Other Fail to install the path.

 If you execute “WUP_Install/update.bat” before executing “WUP_Preinstall/Preinstall.bat”, the

installation fails.
 If you forgot to reboot the PC after executing the “WUP_Preinstall/Preinstall.bat”, execution of
the “WUP_Install/update.bat” is fails.
 If error occurs, reboot the PC and proceed again from “6 .Preparation for Windows Update”
*Detailed error handling methods are described in the following steps.

6 Preparation for Windows Update

Check OS version of target PC. And prepare appropriate WUP zip file.
In this document, “201910_Win10_LTSB2015.zip” and some filenames are appeared in screen capture
images. These filenames are just an example.

6.1 Create a folder “C:¥WUP_temp”.

If the folder already exists, delete all the files in the folder.

6.2 Copy the ZIP file of WUP to "C:¥WUP_temp" from USB memory or DVD media.

6.3 Right-click the copied ZIP file and execute "Extract All ...".

6.4 Press “Extract” on the following screen.

6.5 Please wait until the following progress dialog disappears.

6.6 After finish the extraction, the folder with the same name as the ZIP file is created.
“GetInfo” folder and “WUP Install” folder and “WUP Preinstall” folder are created under
the folder.

7 Installation of the prerequisite Windows Update

Perform this operation only when one of the following conditions is met.
Otherwise, skip this step and go to “3.Installation of the Windows Update”.
1. This is the first WUP installation for the target PC.
2. In case the When "prerequisite Windows Update" is updated. (*1)
(*1…Update information of the "prerequisite Windows Update" is described in the release notes)
*There is no problem even if "Preinstall.bat" is executed again on the PC with the prerequisite
patches applied.

7.1 Open “C:¥WUP_temp¥<xxxx>¥WUP_Preinstall”.

<xxxx> is a folder with the same name as the ZIP file created in 6.6.

7.2 Double-click “Preintall.bat” to execute it.

If the following error message is displayed, the OS of the PC does not match the
target OS version of the WUP ZIP file.
Check the OS version of the target PC, and use correct ZIP file for the PC.
After the above, please try again from "6 Preparation for Windows Update".

7.3 When the “Press any key” message is displayed, press the space key.

7.4 Installation is started. Please wait. (Pre-windows10-XXXX is just an example.)

7.5 When the “Press any key” message is displayed, please press the space key.
The command prompt is closed. Please restart the PC.

7.6 After finish the restart, open the “C:¥WUP_temp¥<xxxx>¥WUP_Preinstall”.

<xxxx> is the folder with the same name as the ZIP file which created in 6.6.

7.7 There is the file named "WUP_preupdate.log".

Please double click to open the file.

7.8 Make sure that the “Return Value” is 0 or 3010 or 2359302 or 1642.
In cases other than the above, restart the PC and try again from “6 Preparation for
Windows Update”.

*Meaning of the “Return Value in written in the 5 Precaution.

8 Installation of the Windows Update

8.1 Open “C:¥WUP_temp¥<xxxx>¥WUP_Install”.
<xxxx> is a folder with the same name as the ZIP file created in 6.6.

8.2 Double-click “Install.bat” to execute it.

If the error shown below is displayed, the OS of the device does not match the target
OS version of the WUP ZIP file.
Check the OS version of the target PC, and use correct ZIP file for the PC.
After the above, please try again from "6 Preparation for Windows Update".

8.3 After the “Press any key…” is displayed, press the space key.

8.4 Installation will begin. Please wait.

*”vcredist_x64_2010.exe” is just an example.

8.5 After the “Press any key…” is displayed, please press the space key.
The command prompt is ends. Please restart your PC.

8.6 After restarting the PC, open “C:¥WUP_temp¥<xxxx>¥WUP_Install”.

<xxxx> is a folder with the same name as the ZIP file created in 6.6.

8.7 There is a file named "WUP_update.log".

Please double click to open.

8.8 Make sure that all of “Return Value” is 0 or 3010 or 2359302 or 1642 or -2145124329.
In cases other than the above, restart the PC and try again from "6 Preparation for Windows
Update”.

*Meaning of the “Return Value in written in the 5 Precaution.

【When "Return Value -2145124329" is output】

●In the case ImagePilot-CL for Windows 8.1
KB2982998 and KB4565622 becomes "Return value -2145124329", but there is no problem.
KB2982998 is an update for IIS.
IIS is disabled in ImagePilot-CL.
Also, KB4565622 is an update for ".NET Framework 4.6".
".NET Framework 4.6" is not installed in ImagePilot-CL.
These cases corresponds to (1) of Table 1 Return Value table.

●In the case other than ImagePilot-CL for Windows 8.1.(Other OS, other KM products)
It is an error if "Return value -2145124329" is displayed.
"Preinstall.bat" has not been executed before "Install.bat".
Restart the PC and try again from "6 Preparation for Windows Update ".
It corresponds to (2) of the Table 1Table 1 Return Value table, and it is an error case.

9 Operation of the after installation

9.1 Open "C:¥WUP_temp".
Delete all the files in the folder.

9.2 Please empty the "Trash" and delete it completely.

10 Log acquisition procedure

When requesting an analysis, attach the obtained log.

10.1 Open “C:¥WUP_temp¥<xxxx>¥GetInfo”.

<xxxx> is a folder with the same name as the ZIP file created in 6.6.

10.2 Double-click “GetInfo.bat” to execute it.

10.3 The following screen will be displayed. Please wait.

10.4 When the message "Press any key to continue" is displayed, please press the space key.
The command prompt closes.

10.5 A folder called "WindowsUpdateInfo" is created under "C:¥WUP_temp".

Double click to open.

10.6 Please check that the following three files are in the "Windows Update Info" folder.
 ReportingEvents.log
 SystemInfoData.txt
 WinUpInstallDateList.txt

10.7 Return to "C:¥WUP_temp", please right-click the "WindowsUpdateInfo" folder and execute
"Compressed (zipped) folder".

10.8 When requesting analysis, please send the following file.

 WUP_preupdate.log
(* When "Preinstall.bat" has been completed)

 WUP_update.log
(* When "Install.bat" has been completed)

 WindowsUpdateInfo.zip
