Customized Power System Modelling from GE Multilin

GE Multilin's testing services offer customers a cost effective and efficient means of testing
protection schemes and associated equipment. The testing facility provides power system
simulation and relay system transient testing services through a Real-Time Digital Simulator
(RTDS®). On hand engineering staff provide setup and support during testing, data analysis and
compile detailed reports of test results. The facility allows customers to conduct multiple testing
scenarios in a short time frame, with a variety of diagnostic equipment available.

Explore the Possibilities of RTDS High-Tech Facility To Meet Your Needs

The Real-Time Digital Simulator (RTDS) works in This modern facility offers a wide array of equipment
real-time to provide solutions to power system and services:
equations quickly enough to accurately represent
conditions in the real world. The RTDS offers I Real-time closed loop testing of protective and
superior accuracy over analogue systems, and control equipment using RTDS and actual relay
allows for comprehensive product and/or communications channels
configuration tests. The RTDS provides a variety of I EMTP/ATP case studies of protection, control and
transient study possibilities, and is capable of testing communications equipment
three-terminal line protection applications including I Playback testing of protective relays
actual communications equipment.
I Testing of generator relays on a made-to-scale
model generator simulator
RTDS Applications:
I Independent digital monitoring equipment is
I Protective relaying schemes available to verify test conditions and response
of tested equipment
I Integrated protection and control systems
I Control system for HVDC, SVC, synchronous
machines and FACTS devices
I General AC and DC system operations and behavior
I Interaction of AC and DC systems
I Interaction of various electrical installations
(e.g. between two HVDC systems)

RTDS Benefits:

I Increase system reliability, security, dependability,

stability and efficiency of equipment and networks
I Improve system understanding, knowledge and
insight
I Maximize quality and quantity of studies
I Minimize equipment or system failure
I Decrease equipment commissioning time
I Reduce R&D cycle time
