Questions
1. PERT and CPA are methods (techniques) that project planners can make use of for
estimating task/ activity duration of a project. Suppose you were assigned to prepare a
project schedule by determining time estimates for each and every project task, which
method would you choose and use for the purpose? Why? (4points)
- I will choose PERT method. Because it examines the tasked that are in a schedule
and determine a variation of the critical path method. it analyzes the time required to
complete each task and its associated dependencies to determine the minimum time to
complete a project. It estimates the shortest possible time each activity will take, the most
likely length of time, and the longest time that might be taken if the activity takes longer
than expect.
2. Discuss environmental factors triggering the initial option and development of new
information system projects in enterprise environment. Support your discussion with
example. (3points)
- firstly, information system is the most powerful tool to determine the
environment. Organization develop information system to know important information
objectives like improving competitiveness, increase productivity, improve growth

3. What does information system development encompass? (3points)

- It concludes sub-activities of analysis, design, development, implementation and
evaluation. Depending on the viewpoint, it can be seen as a software engineering process
of a software producer.

4. System analysis is a research intensive process. Discuss the reason why empirical
investigation is needed in system analysis phase of a project. (2points)
- Because, the analysis phase is a phase where a detailed study of requirements of the
system is developed. Or involves study of an organization’s current procedures and
the information systems used to perform organizational tasks which means we have
to study what and how the current system works. And its hypothesis.
5. In analyzing systems, amongst other things, events occurring in and outside the system
under study are considered. Why it is so? (2points)
- yes we have to consider on the inside and outside events occur in the system
because in analyzing systems we have to study what and how the current system
work means the inside event and gathering facts about what users actually
want through interviews, questionnaires, observation and the system they are
using.
6. Have a look at the diagram below and give answers to each question following the
diagram.

What kind of diagram is it? (1point)

How many processes are shown on it? (1point)

What are the sources of data for the system? Give at least two examples. (1point)

How many data flows are shown on the diagram? (1point)

Mention at least four processed data flows. (2points)

6. 6.1 context data flow diagram

6.2 one process

6.3 there are four sources

Eg:- management
- accounting
6.4 eleven data flows
6.5 - video information
- management information
- video rental item
- customer ID
