The projects on the Map are the largest hydro plants, pumped-storage plants and dams in South East Asia
(see Key on the map for details). They include projects in operation,
under construction and planned (including under study or investigation).
As a complement to the Map, basic data about the projects are given here.
The help of those organizations that provided data and project locations is gratefully acknowledged:
in particular, national committees of ICOLD, government water and energy ministries, consultants,
power companies, utilities and other developers.
Hydropower & Dams in South East Asia 2016
These Tables complement the Map “Hydropower & Dams in South East Asia” published in February 2016. The Map shows the
locations of: hydro plants (including pumped-storage plants) with capacities of 100 MW and more; and dams 60 m or higher. (In a
few cases, some other important projects are included.) Abbreviations are explained at the end of the Tables, and some additional
notes are included for some countries. It was not possible to locate every project on the Map, in particular those projects at an early
stage of planning: an asterisk in the lefthand column indicates these projects. Normal type indicates schemes in operation; bold type
indicates schemes under construction; and bold-italic type indicates projects that are planned, including under study or investigation.
On the Map, blue, red or yellow dots indicate the status of each project (see Key on map).

Brunei (Brunei Darussalam has only a few large dams and no hydro plants in operation; the 44 m-high Ulu Tudong TE/ER dam was
completed in 2015. It is now the largest dam and water supply project in the country.)
