SJAM Fitness Challenge

Keaton J & Sydney B

Description of project
We feel passionate about exercise and personal health, so we decided to
create a challenge to encourage our fellow students stuck at home to get
active.

We plan to post a different exercise every day for a week, where each day they
are challenged to see how many of that exercise they can do in a certain
amount of time.
For example: How many pushups can you do in a minute?

Project Plan

3
Steps
1. Start slideshow
2. Make posters for advertisement
3. Make five different videos demonstrating five different exercises
4. Post posters on school tv with a week advance notice for students
5. Go through the week where the challenge actually happens with
participants
Materials
1. Any device to record videos
2. Any open space to do exercise
3. Yoga mat for comfort (optonial)
4. Positive attitude
Research and comparables
80 % of teens aren't getting an hour of physical activity a day.
This is a problem considering that Health Canada suggest that you get a minimum of 60
minutes a day every day of the week, where 3 of the days are focused on building and
strengthening muscle. Teens are also becoming lazier and more distracted with the constant
development of technology, creating less and less reasons for kids to want to go outside. But
by encouraging them to start small, it can put them on the right track for success so that
they can hit that minimum requirement and possibly lead to a lifelong passion to live as
healthy as possible.
