ISOMIL - Mineral Insulated Cables

Processing of Mineral Insulated Cables

Tube Wire Insulation material

Cleaning Straightening Drying

Hot filling

To avoid humidity being absorbed by the hygroscopic

insulation material the components are dried
thoroughly and filled at an elevated temperature.

Swaging & Rolling

Swaging is the optimum forming method for certain

types of our mineral insulated cables, naturally special
equipment must be employed. The inner conductors are
best protected when processed on a continuous calibre
mill. However, the tolerances generally required for the
sheath wall limit the use of this method to a few special
designs.

Annealing

The production of a flawless mineral insulated cable

right down to the smallest dimensions requires a
considerable number of intermediate annealing
processes.

Pickling

Pickling removes all discolouration which occurs in spite

of the protective gas used during the annealing
process.

Drawing

Pickling removes all discolouration which occurs in spite

of the protective gas used during the annealing
process.

Final Annealing

Final annealing is conducted under protective gas in a

continuous process to attain a smooth, bright surface.

Final Product

Each drawn batch undergoes quality assurance tests -

as cable coils of long length - before dispatch.
