 A FRIEND ROBOT

Technology has advanced in gigantic steps in recent years and today it has been a
fundamental piece to be able to communicate, study, work and fulfill our professional
tasks; not only that but also to be in contact with our family members through social
networks since as a result of all this situation caused by the virus we have had to resort to
them. It is very important not to forget that at home we also have relatives and that we can
start real conversations with them, in order to get out of the virtual world a bit and re-
connect with the real.
In view of all this problem of social distancing and having as the main idea to offer a
demonstration of affection to people who have had to go through all this very lonely
situation, we have thought of a fantastic idea, where the main protagonist is a robot. He's a
robot friend, that's what we called him. He is in charge of giving hugs to many people who
with equal gratitude want to receive him in an act of love and hope. Also complying with
all biosafety protocols so as not to cause any harm to the people who received that energetic
hug.
As psychology students we think and interpret this idea with the sole purpose of showing
the importance that a hug contains, the joy and energy that transports the heart to the person
who receives it, in this case it does not also apply to the person who already gives it. That it
is our robot friend that will only fulfill the function of giving many hugs and that these will
probably give a little happiness and encouragement to all of these people to continue with
their day to day in a situation as terrible as the pandemic has been caused by COVID-19.
Our robot friend will give energetic hugs, giving an example of empathy and solidarity with
people who have gone through difficult times in this time of confinement and also making
those who receive those hugs understand that sometimes it is not necessary to say much,
just count on someone who can listen to us and provide that comforting hug.

People should use our robot because it is a great support and not only because of the
confinement, but also because there are people going through moments of depression and
the first thing they should know is that they are not alone to face all the problems, with a
simple hug from our robot people will feel supported and much calmer.
