Software Installation
Prerequisites
Some preconditions will be needed for running the DROC program successfully.
Win7 64-bit OS
Super Dongle
The system permission contains two levels, the hardware level and the software level. The 1st
level permission is controlled by a USB based license dongle; the 2nd level permission is
controlled by the user account management system. The dongle has two types, the regular
dongle and the super dongle as shown in the following figure.
Make sure that the super dongle is inserted to the USB slot correctly before any
related operation.
The 64-bit DROC requires the super dongle. Therefore, before software installation, make sure
the super dongle is plugged into the USB.
The super dongle doesn’t need driver; thus make sure there is no any dongle driver is installed. If
have please uninstall it first.
Make sure your super dongle is granted related privileges to use DROC. For super dongle
activation, please refer to the document “Super Dongle User Manual”.
Access DB Driver
The 64-bit DROC will install the 64-bit Access DB driver during its installation. If the 32-bit
Microsoft Office with Access has been installed, please reinstall Microsoft Office without Access,
or install 64-bit Office to avoid the conflict issue of the different versions of Access DB driver.
PPACS 5
The PPACS services cooperate with the DROC application for database management, archive image,
print image etc.
NOTE: The failed installation of PPACS will disable the data storage and transferring;
In case earlier versions of PPACS being installed in your computer, please clear the earlier
versions before the upgrade.
However, the DROC Setup program checks the PPACS service automatically when it start. It will
activate the PPACS installation program if the PAPCS is not installed.
Installing PPACS
The Personal PACS (PPACS) is responsible for managing local history images and communicating
with other DICOM network nodes, including RIS, PACS, and Printers.
NOTE: The failed installation of PPACS will disable the data storage and transferring.
Earlier versions PPACS are not compatible; they cannot be installed in the same
system. Thus, if the system has been installed with a previous version, please remove
it prior to this installation.
Installation Procedures
2. After selecting the installation language, the welcome message appears as the following
figure. Click Next button to continue.
Due to the data storage, it is recommended to install the PPACS in the disk which has
the largest free disk space.
4. Input the Application Entity (AE) Title and TCP Port of the PPACS service. The default AE
Title is the computer name and the default TCP Port is 104. Normally, they are not needed to
be changed since each computer in the hospital network has a unique name. After changing
the AE Title and TCP Port if needed, click “Next” to continue.
5.
NOTE: Don’t type an existing name in the AE Title field or TCP Port field. Please query
the network administrator for the setting of AE Title and TCP port if needed.
6. When the system has configured the relevant information for the installation of PPACS, tick
the box of “Confirm setup information” and then click “Next” to start the installation.
7. During the installation, the wizard will create service directories and save them. This process
will take a little time.
8. When the installation is completed, the prompt “Installation Complete” will show. Click
“Close” to exit.
PPACS Configuration
Go to the installation directory of PPACS, run the PPacsConfig.exe to start the PPACS Configuration.
NOTE: If the software dongle key is not installed correctly, the PPACS Configuration may
not work correctly.
Generally, it is not necessary for users to configure the PPACS. Most features will be included in the
DROC configuration.
However, it would be fine for administrators to fill in the base information according to the actual
application. The following figure shows the field for configuring the hospital name.
Sometimes, it is required to verify or change the database storage location. Go to the page of
Storage Device, the image database storage location could be verified or changed, as shown in the
following figure.
NOTE: It is required to initialize the database if the image database directory is changed.
Normally, the PPACS Service will start automatically when once it installed. Otherwise, please
enable the PPACS service manually.
Steps:
Normally, the PPACS Services will start automatically after it is installed. Otherwise, please start
the PPACS service manually.
1. From Control Panel, select “System and Security” as shown in the following figure.
3. Double-click “Services” to open the Services window. In the Services window, three are 3
PPACS related services:
eServiceBus
NOTE: If these 3 services are not work correctly, restart the computer or click “start
Service” button to start the services. If the problem still exists, contact your support
engineer.
Some anti-virus software tools treat PPACS services as unknown virus and thus may
kill or isolate them. To avoid this case, configure the anti-virus tool by adding PPACS
services into its trusted list.
If these 3 services have been killed by the anti-virus tools mistakenly, reinstall PPACS and then add it
into the trusted list of the anti-virus tool.
Before the DROC console software installation, please ensure PPACS has been installed
successfully.

procedure will be kicked off by DROC.
Its installation welcome screen will be popup as shown in the below figure.
If the 32-bit Access database engine has been installed before the 64-bit Access database engine
