ARCHITECTURAL

&
INTERIOR WORKS

ESTIMATION AND COSTING COURSE

9.PARTITION WALLS
Partition walls are 125mm thick (half brick thick) and their quantity is measured in
sqm.

We'll measure partition walls in two directions:

Horizontal Direction

Vertical Direction
10.PLASTER WORK
Plasterwork is done after laying brickwork. It's quantity is calculated in sqm.
We'll measure plasterwork in four items of work:

Exterior Plaster Work -20mm

Interior Plasterwork - 15mm

Ceiling Plasterwork - 10mm

Rough Plasterwork
11.PAINT WORK
Paintwork will happen over and above the plasterwork. It's quantity will also be
calculated in sqm.

We'll measure paintwork in two items of work:

Exterior Paint Work (as per exterior plaster)

Interior Paint work (as per interior plaster)

The area to be painted will almost be the same as

the area of plasterwork
12.CLADDING WORK
After rough plaster work, tiles/stone will
be clad in the relevant areas. Hence, the
area of cladding work is the same as that
for the rough plaster work. It's quantity
is also measured in sqm.

We'll measure cladding in two items of

work:
Exterior Stone Cladding

Interior Tile Cladding

13.FLOORING WORK
Flooring work will be calculated in sqm. Skirting
will also be quantified in sqm. Hence, we'll be
measuring our flooring works in two sections:

Flooring Area

Skirting Area

To measure both these quantities we essentially

need to find the perimeter and height of the
space.
14.FALSE CEILING
False ceiling work is calculated in sqm. We'll
consider the entire area and then add 20%
extra considering wastage and vertical boards

For measuring the false ceiling area, we can do

it individually through measuring dimension of
each space, or use the RCP drawing.
15.DOORS
The rate for doors in the SOR is given in three
sections, and we'll need to measure each
section individually.

Wood Frame - Measured in cu.m

Door Panel - Measured in sq.m

Door Hardware measured per piece

Refer to the Schedule.dwg to get the details of

the doors
16.WINDOWS
Windows will also be measured in sqm. We
only need to measure the area of the window
portal to quantify our windows.

Since each window will have a different

requirement of glass and fittings, we'll
measure and quantify them individually.

Refer to the Schedule.dwg to get the details

of the windows.
17.WOODWORK
Woodwork is measured in sqm. of the the largest face of any piece of furniture.
For Example:
Front Face area to be Top face to be considered
considered during claculation during calculation
18.HARDWARE
Hardware is calculated in number of pieces.
Hardware items considered separately for all items
of work will be included here.

In our design, only hardware fittings for the doors

has been taken separately, all other hardware
fittings for windows, furniture etc. has been
considered with the respective item of work.
18.HARDWARE
19.LANDSCAPING

Landscaping is also measured in sqm.

We'll just measure the area to be landscaped

and consider it in our measurement sheet

Notice that the area to be landscaped does

not include the internal plants etc., only the
front yard has been considered.
OTHER ITEMS OF WORK
We've completed the measurement of most items of work, all other items of work will
be measured as:

Lighting and Plumbing - Cost will be considered as a % of toal cost.

Loose Furniture- Cost will be considered individually.

Furnishings - Cost will be considered individually.

These items of work will be considered straight away in the final estimate.
