Intermittent Hard Shifting

Intermittent harsh shifting on 5R55S transmissions are not uncommon. You can service the solenoid set first
but that usually doesn’t fix it. ATRA’s Pete Huscher wrote an article for Gears (Lincoln with an Attitude, June
2011) about a similar problem, LS's were and still are experiencing a failure of the ECM. The fix for this con-
cern is a PCM replacement. If Ford's replacement PCM is unavailable and Ford does not have a release date for
new part, try to locate a repair shop that can replace the driver chip for solenoid B.
