Operation Manual

1 Overall System Architecture Introduction

1.1 Introduction

the school net cloud project is a platform is implementation of diverse system and network device that it
requires for the operation engineer or assigned technicians to be capable of handling all required
operation and occasionally maintaining basic issue that occur due to power, system or human errors.

This manual contains basic introduction and know how of operating and maintaining the system for day
to day usage of the platform to reach the goals of better ICT and media streaming platform for the
schools.

1.2 Network and system Architecture

The platform contains of 1 VDI server to give a cloud based computer access and 1 media server for the
media streaming of prepared videos. The rest are networking device, thin client and AP for giving diverse
accessing of the platform for the end user(student) . there are also powering device like UPS and battery
for preventing any power shortage and system interruption. Air cooling device to give a good
environment for the system in areas where the temperature will be non operational level.

The over all system and network connection for all school is given below with a diagram.
2 VDI

2.1 Introduction to the platform

Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) is a virtualization technology that hosts a desktop operating
system on a centralized server in a data center. VDI is a variation on the client-server computing
model, sometimes referred to as server-based cloud computing.
What are the benefits of VDI? (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure)
 Way less administrative overhead. In a virtualized network, an IT administrator can
make updates to virtual desktops from the data center itself. ...
 Increased productivity. ...
 Cost savings. ...
 Better security. ...
 The benefits of VDI give companies a competitive edge.

Huawei have a VDI(Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) called Fusion-cloud Desktop Solution. the
basic system architecture is shown below.
2.2 Fusion Compute
Fusion Compute (FC) is the VRM that manages all the VM including the system vm. It is the
software that is made for virtualization of resource and creation of vm. From the FC we can also
delete the vm created by FA but it is not recommended. Here we can check our resource
including the amount of disk we used and how much is left. We can check each users resource
allocation and the running data. The fusion access and the templates are allocated n the fusion
compute and they can be manipulated for this system.
2.2.1 Things to check on the FC
a. First is the health of the System. In the home page of the fusion compute you can check
the overall status of the system including resource allocation and alarms.

b. You can check the status of the system disk and user disk in the storage tab and
selecting the specific RAID partition. In the resource statistics part of the summary you
can check the number of VM on the Virtual Drive, allocated capacity, total capacity and
number of disks that are used to create this virtual drive.
2.2.2 How to stop VMs on fusion compute
a. First login to fusion compute and go to VM and Template

b. Select all Vms except TCM,FA and VRM,then click operation and click stop
c. Then it display like this
2.2.3 How to start VMs
a. First login to fusion compute and go to VM and Templates

b. Select all Stopped VMs and click operation then click start
2.3 Fusion Access
Fusion access (FA) is the management part for all the 80vm that is prepared for end users. From
this system new vm can be created or the old ones can be managed by starting, stopping, and if
necessary deleting. You can do system restore for any faulty vm or u can manage the users who
are logged in to the vm.

2.3.1 Start, stop and restore a VM in FA

If any of the user VM doesn’t login to the windows 7 OS from any of the thin client. You can
follow the following step to troubleshoot and solve the problem.

a. First login to the site FA management website.

b. Go to the Desktop > VM Group

c. Go the VM Group and go the specific group of the vm that has a problem

d. From this group search the VM NAME. go to the advanced function tab and restarting the
VM or shutting down the vm then start it again. If all this not work you can Restore the vm.
