Observations

This day I got a tour of the shop then we got called out on a service job near the shop.
We went and helped a guy fix his bucket truck. Every time he used the trailer brakes the
truck just lost power. I observed how Brad jumped power from one fuse to another.

Reflection

My reflection on today was that when adding some accessories to any vehicle to keep the
wires nice and neat. This project was a complete mess. We had a really tough time
finding the wires that led to the trailer brake. In the end we found out the problem was
and they had a fuse that was way too small for that brake system. Everytime he try and
use that brake system the main fuse that is used for the ignition was way to small for the
job it was supposed to be used for.

Observations

This day we went out on a service call near Goodwin. We had a combine not lowering
the deck and not harvesting the crop. So we decided to check the brush module and that
was not moving at all so we had to replace that so we ran Watertown and grabbed the
part and replaced that.

Reflection

I found out that the side brush module is small but very important. That little the piece
controls the whole movement of the deck. The side brush module helps with movement
of the deck and header. This was a fun day and I learned a lot today and had a lot of fun.

Observations

Today Brad had me washing the combines before we can have the owner come get them.

Reflection

I found out that you have to wash out all the little openings and get in every crack where
dust was.

Observations

Today we replace the floor of the feeder housing and this floor can be very tricky to get
under the feeder. You definitely need two people to change one of these, or get a floor
jack to help hold it up when putting the bolts in.

Reflection

I found out today that if the floor of feeder housing isn’t flush then if you get any rocks
sent through the feeder the floor will tear and chip away and there goes a lot of money
down the drain.

Observations

Today we inspected a combine and found several things that need work. Things like the
water pump, the rotor belt, the chopper and hammers need to be replaced.

Reflection

Today I got to replace the choppers and the hammers on the back side of the combine
and that took some time to do because you are in a small place, and hardly any room to
move around. Then next we replaced the rotor belt which was even worse due to the fact
none of us could fit by the rotor to put the belt on. Then we had to order a water pump
for the combine.
