MEANINGS AND DEFINITION
Pelvis: Greek word; Basin….bowl
Formed by; Ilium, Pubis ,Ischium,
Sacrum and Coccyx.
o Tilt: Slope,incline,lean,bend.
o PELVIC TILT:-
Pelvic tilt is an anteroposterior
motion of the pelvis around an imaginary axis in the
frontal plane.
TYPES
It is of 3 types; Anterior pelvic tilt
Posterior pelvic tilt
Lateral pelvic tilt
ANTERIOR PELVIC TILT:-
ASIS moves
anteroinferiorly , front of pelvis drops,back of pelvis
rises.
Muscles work; Hip flexors Shorten
Spinal extensors Shorten
Hip extensors Lengthen
Straight abdominal muscles Lengthen
POSTERIOR PELVIC TILT
ASIS moves posteriorly,front of pelvis rises, back of pelvis
drops.

POSTURAL RE-EDUCATION THROUGH
PELVIC TILT
o Voluntary control of pelvic tilt teaches the patient
to recognize any deviation from normal and trains
him to be able to adjust.
o Pelvic tilt exercises introduce you to proper pelvis
positioning, and then may encourage you to
maintain the tilt while moving your legs. Unilateral
balancing exercises help you establish a proper
pelvic tilt while balancing on one foot.
o Crook lying; Gluteal and abdominal contraction
o Low wing sitting; Pelvis tilting and adjustment
o Low wing standing; Pelvis tilting and adjustment
