What Others Are Saying!
“Ancient Paths met me in my downtimes, leading to
reflections, but ultimately, revival. It impacts as well as
educates. The author in his ever simplistic style seeks to lay
bare the dynamics of ageless principles capable of life
transformation. You will stay glued as you read through.

“The book is good for direction and redirection of both

young and older Christians. The author did a good
packaging on the ancient paths and I recommend it for all
lovers of God. It is an inspiring message that would bless
humanity.”

“This book, Ancient Paths, is a well written book and is

coming to us at the right time, when most believers are
being tossed around with strange doctrines. The author,
though young, has an insight of an elderly person because
of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in him.
The book gives direction on how to continue on the right
path, how to retrace your steps or inquire on how to come
back if you have missed it. I submit to you that you must
inquire from those who have acquired what you require in
order not to expire.”

“Your life is a continuation of an ancient story told from
heaven. There is no need starting a new one per se. Find
where it is and continue the eternal story. Lucky, like
always, shows us paths we must use for this purpose in a
captivating way.”

“If you care deeply about fulfilling God’s given purpose

for your life and seek long-term joy throughout your life,
then put this book on your required-reading list. Lucky
Ndupu, like a spiritual archaeologist, leads you into the
discovery of ancient paths great men and women before us
had taken. If they could, we can.

“In Proverbs 22:28, it reads, “Remove not the ancient
landmark, which your fathers have set. Why is this
scripture valid at this time? The new generations are
drifting away from the core foundation of the system (faith)
that brought them up. The advent of technology, new social
factors, and wiles of the enemies are responsible for this
veering off.
Ancient Paths is a book that points us back to what the
original structure, principle and tenement was. A
generation that does not want to be destroyed and extinct
need to embrace the principles shared by the Scribe.”

“Several truths are being divinely revealed and taught in
the Body of Christ, but there is a deliberate action required
to live in the realities of these truths. This book clearly
depicts one of the Christian hallmarks – OBEDIENCE,
which is one the ancient paths. The book is likened to a
guide that builds on personalized engagements on the
readers’ part.”

FOREWORD
“This is what the Lord says: Stand at the crossroads and
look, ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is,
and walk in it, and you will find rest for your soul. But you
said, ‘we will not walk in it.’” (Jeremiah 6:16)
This call from Jeremiah is still as relevant to the
contemporary generation as it was to the original recipient,
the Israelites. Unfortunately, it appears the response of this
present generation is the same as it was with the Israelites,
“But you said, we will not walk in it.” The truth is there are
those who intentionally ignored the call to search for the
ancient paths which guaranteed rest, while there are others
who are ignorant of the way. But there are also few others
who have discovered this path and have once tasted the
sweetness, and the rest of walking with God but who, out
of laxity and carelessness are losing the focus, the fire, and
are trading off the passion. Whichever of these three
categories you belong, the author has a word for you in this
timely piece.
At a point in Paul’s missionary activities, he came to the
city of Athens where people were sold to all kinds of myths
and empty philosophies. In fact, they were so zealous that
they worshiped all kinds of gods and reserved a space for
the “UNKNOWN GOD” (Acts 17:23). They were zealous
to know and serve God but couldn’t discern the right paths
to satisfy their intrinsic desire. To help them, Paul
impressed on their hearts that the God who made the
heavens and the earth does not dwell in tents made by
human hands, but resides in the human spirit. It therefore,
means that to know and serve God requires a presentation
and dedication of our lives to Him, which is another crucial
issue the author underscores in this book. In other words,
our lives must experience a kind of metamorphosis, a
change for us to stay glued to the paths.

viii
The author discussed nine crucial paths, but I am excited
that he starts with the most important of all, the path of
desire. Another word for desire is passion, or enthusiasm.
Until you are passionate about seeking God in truth and
spirit, you are likely to miss the mark. So, I ask you this
question: What are you passionate about? Will you be like
David whose heart greatest desire is to seek God (Ps 42:1)?
I have no doubt that this book will transform your life if
you will be humble enough to embrace the simple truths
outlined therein. I am always proud of Lucky for his
insightful presentation of biblical truths and his insatiable
hunger to know more of Jesus. I commend this book to all
readers globally, that the Holy Spirit will breathe on the
pages for the transformation of lives. Let the adventure
begin!

PREFACE
What becomes your experience in life is determined by the
paths you’re taking. All around us, the lives of many people
are going deeper and deeper into the struggles and wiles of
our time. Some seem to have it all good whereas the places
they are treading will lead to pain and regrets. This is
because they are going through paths that are not
established by God himself.
Those who followed the ancient paths throughout history
had a reason to rejoice. They found the good way through it
and got rest for their souls. For this reason, an immense
need rises among this present generation and for the
generations to come, to walk the ancient paths that God
earmarked for his sons and daughters. But how can you
walk on a path you have no idea about? This book seeks to
provide the necessary answers and inspire you towards that
direction by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Backed up by the word, the ancient paths have become
means by which the hopeless have found hope, the stricken
have found relief, and ordinary men have been transformed
into those who do exploits. They will bring you into the
good way and several possibilities in Christ.
We must all admit that many in our generation have lost
touch with the ancient paths. Don’t look at others yet;
check yourself. Are you walking in all of them? Realities
that should be evident in us are greatly missing. Our lives
need a shift. This can only be if we go back to these paths
I do not attest to have fully walked them all – but we keep
pressing, and we keep growing till the fullness of these
paths become our way of life. In the pages of this book, you
will gain insight into them, and be inspired to take action
just as I am doing, having those who have gone ahead as
sources of inspiration, with Christ as the ultimate. Let us
proceed into the Ancient Paths!

INTRODUCTION
ASK FOR THE
ANCIENT PATHS!
“Though it’s ancient, it never wears out or fails because it’s the truth,
for truths do not fail.” – Anonymous

Like a spiritual archeologist, he sought to discover the

paths, rare men and women before him had taken. This led
him to countless days of personal studies, observation of
facts, research, and private prayers for insight. He asked
questions everywhere possible to know why these ones,
carried the aura of greatness in their days, with remarkable
success. He also searched for why others failed and where
they did. He traveled everywhere necessary and made
libraries and books close friends to gather the missing link
in his present generation. Still, on his mission, he kept
asking and digging into every information he could find
from the past. He preached his first sermon at an early age
of thirteen and started teaching on his discoveries about the
pathways, these rare men and women had taken, at the age
of fifteen. Is there a name coming to your mind as you read
through? He is Roberts Liardon, author of God’s Generals
series and the movie!
Today, the findings he made captures the paths which the
generals of old have followed. These paths, “though it’s
ancient, it never wears out or fails because it’s the truth, for
truths do not fail.” – Anonymous. In relation to what
Roberts did, it's my pleasure to unravel the paths the
ancients knew and used for experiencing the good way, and
for finding true rest, and how you can do the same in
today's world. Keep this in mind: because it's ancient does
not make it irrelevant or outdated. These paths are the
missing links in our generation.

1
It’s an early calling unto everyone who reads this and to
myself who shares it, that as you brood over the coming
chapters of this book, go and stand at the crossroads and
ask for the ancient paths, assigned by God who is the Most
Ancient, and experience the good way like the days of old,
with new moves of the Almighty. It’s time you walk more
in it so that you can find rest for your soul. I have attempted
asking for, and walking God’s ancient paths. My findings
which make up this book will inspire you to do so because
it a burden He holds.
A Divine Burden
God has a burden! And His burden is not a mystery at all.
Through the prophet Jeremiah, we gain insight into the
burden of God – that we all ask for the ancient paths which
made men mighty in their days. The burden of God is for
men to take their walk with Him on these paths more
seriously than ever because more winds from other
deceptive paths are blowing seriously. These ancient paths
are the ways of God with men; how men can approach Him
and come into His perfect plan for their lives. They are the
irrefutable routes to experiencing the good way of the Lord
and finding abundant rest.
This burden is still as new as it was when it was declared
by the Holy Spirit many years ago. The Creator knows very
well that the earth is full of paths. That’s why He said, in
these paths, you will find a good way. It is God’s ultimate
desire and burden that you seek and walk through the paths
He has designated, so you can come into rest for your soul.
Rest in this context is not been inactive or whiling away the
moments. Rest for our souls is being at the center of His
will for our remaining days on the earth. It speaks of
getting to where He has designed for you. It speaks of
being liberated from the limitations that are common with
the natural man. Are you taking note of this burden too?
I do not seek to just write something, although I must
confess that my first reason had lesser virtues. But as I
2
reflected, I asked myself, “Of what need is a book that
holds no substance?” Then I had to adjust my motives
about why this piece should be. With my motive now
refined, I sincerely want to speak to you and myself
through this book the burden of the Father, which I have
come to discover. It’s not odd at all for me to speak to
myself with my writings, because they are not just my
words carefully devised - they are His!
Through the years, I have asked myself a particular
question a good number of times: “What did the ancients
know that we don’t know, and what did they do that we are
not doing? Oh, my generation! Will the mighty moves of
God be seen in our days? Won’t we become intentional
about our pursuit of God by following the paths the
patriarchs of faith took? Shall we not strive to see that
when we we’re through with our work here on earth, that
the cloud of witness and people will say, “He walked with
God, and he genuinely followed paths that proved that there
is a good way and abundant rest in the Lord. He made God
evident in the midst of men.”
God wants you to experiencially know the ancient paths.
Our current age is truly blessed with so much information
about these ancient paths that seems to be an overload at
some point. They can dull the mind instead of helping it
when care is neglected. But there is a great difference
between knowing about something and knowing
something.
For What Cause?
You should at this point become aware of something that is
currently going on across the earth. Millions have neglected
the ancient paths earmarked by God for three general
excuses: It’s nonsense, it’s out of fashion, It does not work!
But be clear on this: Your opinion or my opinion against
the paths that God has made for people to come into their
rest is of no use. It will be wise we stop our complaining

3
and start seeking them out. Quick fixes, band-aids, and
shortcuts will forever be inadequate.
Lives and destinies are failing by their thousands because
certain generations of men are not asking and walking in
the ancient paths that God has put in place. From nations
and down to individuals, you can see that they are running
out of joy because they have been treading on the wrong
paths. Systems of governance for our institutions and
nations are not producing eternal impact because men are
doing what they feel is right; ignoring the ways of God.
They exclude the Creator in the scheme of events and
conform to the norms propagated. What testimonial shall
we bring before the throne if we neglect the ancient paths
He made for our profiting, in all areas of our lives and
endeavours?
These and so many other reasons is why you must become
passionate about asking, walking, and staying on God’s
ancient paths. That’s what this book is all about. I have put
together nine of them, which I’m certain is not an
exhausted list. But they are the basics, and intertwined in
several respect. The ancient paths will make you come into
the same experience the generals of God and patriarchs of
faith once had. It is the way to the possibilities in Christ,
where you defy common sense. It is the way to the revival
that you and I long for. It’s the route to the good way and
abundant rest for your soul. Let us begin!

Paths for
Uncovering

CHAPTER 1
THE PATH OF DESIRE!
“If you see any beauty in Christ, and say, ‘I desire to have that,’
God will work it in you.”
– G. V. Wigram

The very wheels of desire steer the commencement of

anything at all in life, whether noticed or unnoticed. The
points where a longing rises within you, and you strongly
want something – that is a desire making a headway. It has
its origin in the deepest parts of our beings and walks its
way up in becoming a reality in time. Some might be
hidden to the eyes of the public for several years, but it will
come to fruition if held with certainty and attention. Desire
is like a fire that inspires the pursuit of a thing, keeping our
expectations in view. Desire can fuel your search into the
mysteries of His word to know how to apprehend what is
rightfully yours in Christ. Desire keeps you committed and
focused.
If you have ever wondered how the ancients who lived in
time past, found the good way earmarked by God, let me
tell you right now: They all had strong desires for it. This
fueled their commitment. Desire is very powerful! It alters
your focus from what you were used to unto something
better that you want. Men who reached the good way, and
found rest in God, were men of desire – singular desire.
The path of desire sets the launch pad for your destination.
Many desires will clamour for attention in the heart of a
man, but the strongest of all desires is what usually
prevails.
Desire is what I consider to be the first among the paths
which the ancients used in coming into the good way, the
place where rest for our souls is gotten; the place where we
the experience the God-life. One of the finest examples of
6
men who wielded much desire is King David. Psalms 27:4
speaking, “One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I
seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days
of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire
in His temple.” King David’s greatest desire is expressed in
the verse. He was committed to seeking after this desire in
his heart. Nothing was more important to him than
fulfilling that craving. What was King David’s single most
desire? David’s greatest desire was to permanently connect
to the Lord and His house.1 David had a desire. What is
your true desire? Is it on the Lord and His purposes?
It’s high time you and I become more deliberate about what
kind of desires we would allow to rule our lives. If they are
not godly desires, you won’t be able to locate the blessings
that God has in store for you. You don’t want to get to
heaven and find out, that all God had assigned to you
couldn’t get to you because your desires were insignificant.
Finding the good way halts your former struggles; the
struggles that follow a life when one is not at the center of
His will. This occurs mostly when wrong desires are at bay,
and the right ones which lead to the good way have not
been ignited. There is a way to ignite them if you care.
Ignite Your Godly Desires
The story of Oral Roberts comes to mind to show you how
to ignite a desire. But first of all, you can’t miss the first
step he took – being born again. To be born again is
becoming a common phrase these days that many people
think they are saved whereas, their lives are unchanged.
Check your salvation! Without it, your desires will be the
wrong ones regardless of the high moral standards you set
for yourself. At the point of salvation, your desires will be
changed because the Holy Spirit now dwells in you.
Back to our story, Oral Roberts followed the path of desire
to experience one major good way in a believer’s life – the
baptism of the Holy Ghost. For months, he preached about
this experience urging the people to go for it, and he was
7
yet to have it for himself. But all he had with him was a
strong desire for it. Then one day, in August 1936, in one
of the Camp meetings in Sulphur Oklahoma, that desire
was granted. He finally experienced what he longed for.
Indeed, one’s experience will always be the result of his
utmost desires. Those desires ought to be godly and good!
Every man has an innate desire for good despite his fallen
state. The challenge present with all generations has been
the conflict between godly desires and the wrong ones. It is
a continual fight that must be won by good if you will ever
find rest for your soul. To suppress and weed out wrong
and ungodly desires, the first step is repentance.
Repentance is what fine-tunes our desires to connect to the
good way and find rest in God. It demands that one
acknowledges the wrong paths he has taken, and through
the conviction and empowerment of the Spirit, genuinely
change their ways for good. It is not a onetime experience,
because we would certainly discover hidden desires that are
wrong over time. In the flesh, repentance and being
changed is deemed impossible, but with God, it is possible.
The workings of the word of God is very crucial here. Chip
Ingram once said in the light of this that, “as you spend
time with God’s word and understand his love, the Holy
Spirit will create new desires within you…”
You need to desire the good way of the Lord – the place
where you gain rest; rest from toiling without rewards, rest
from all oppression. Of a truth, God has much store for you
during this moment and also for the future, but you can’t
lay hold of it, if the issue of desire is not yet settled.
With a godly desire now in place, you need to take
responsibility for fanning it to flames, because there will be
contentions to subvert it. There are challenges, but if your
desire is fully lit, nothing can stop you from entering the
good way of God. Light only subdues darkness if the light
is enough.

8
Intensify Your Desire for It
We are beings plagued with many desires – we want to do
this, we want to have that. However, to reach the good way,
to understand and walk in its reality, there are no
alternatives, and there is a need to narrow down the many
desires you might have and focus on what is important and
more lasting. You should take time to assess the desires
you have by examining your passion and commitment,
because if it’s a real desire, it shows! However, there is the
need to constantly intensify the right kind of desire – the
desire for every good way and rest that has been put in
place by God, not to the point of delving into extremism
per se, but to stay afloat when other wind of desires blow
which can drag you out of the good way.
If you want your desire for the good way which God has
made to be intensified, you need to make fellowship with
Him your topmost priority. When we fellowship with Him,
in the place of His word and ceaseless prayers, with fasting
and being associated with men who long for it as well  for
iron sharpens iron, our desire for it will become intensified.
I can clearly remember one of the moments with fellow
leaders discussing a terrible condition that had occurred to
an individual under our care. For several minutes, we spoke
from the sensual realm trying to put together physical
means of addressing the problem. But I spoke out because
God had been dealing with me on the subject of the good
way, the place of possibilities and His goodness. It was not
to look more spiritual. Not at all! God bears me witness. It
was a burden I couldn’t hold in anymore. I had to let it out
with all honesty and sincerity. My desire for the ways of
God made me frustrated with our method; we were all
trying to address the issue forgetting we are spirit beings,
citizens of heaven, and the ecclesia.
We seem have spent so much time on this side of eternity
that we have forgotten our source. We don’t know who we
truly are, and what we have at our disposal. For sure, there
9
are physical approaches that can solve certain problems,
but not all problems. If we must get to the good way, that
solves the problems of men by the hand of God, our desire
for it must be rekindled. It must be intensified to a level
where we begin to inquire about how to go about reaching
there. This is a clarion call!

10
CHAPTER 2
THE PATH OF INQUIRY
“He who asks questions remains a fool for five minutes. He who never
ask questions remains a fool forever.” – Chinese Proverb

When your desires are intensified to reach the good way,

and find rest, next, the path of inquiry must also be trodden
upon. Jeremiah 6:16b begins with a profound word,
“ASK”. An inquiry is of utmost importance in the ancient
paths earmarked by God to discover the good way and find
rest. Every citizen of God’s kingdom should be one who
inquires. The path of inquiry is a path of being inquisitive,
searching for vital information by asking in order to make a
move towards the good way. You should become aware
that those who rightly inquire will not strangely misfire.
Men who ask questions that are required, are men who
don’t miss their path in finding what they had desired. And
since your desire is interwoven to meet the burdens of God,
it makes more sense to inquire of Him and His word. Don’t
take things at face value; if there is a need for clarity and
direction, do your bit to inquire.
There Are Merits
The most important benefit for keeping to the path of
inquiry is that you’ll find direction from answers given.
Reaching the good way and finding rest for your soul
comes by asking for it. The Lord himself proposed this to
His children, because He knows, this is what matters most.
Those who ask are enabled to fulfill the task.
Inquiring will broaden your understanding. If it’s genuine,
it builds the trust that God will have in you, and He will
send you the answers you need in navigating your life to
the good way, where you find rest for your soul. Let us take
a challenge from from one who did such and recovered
what was once lost to the enemy.

11
He Inquired and Recovered All
King David was a man who asked questions. He inquired
of the Lord for direction when he found out that his wives,
Ahinoam and Abigail, and the wives, children, and
belongings of his men had been raided. At first sight of the
terrible situation, depression and pain set in. But what was
his next action after he encouraged himself? He inquired,
on two occasions - first from the Lord, and secondly, an
Egyptian slave whom was left to die by the raiding party.
When he inquired, he got answers and was able to recover
everything they had lost (1 Samuel 30:1-20).
The good way may be something you have lost. And now,
what you have is nothing but memories of when you were
sure you dwelt at the center of God’s will; you experienced
the possibilities in Christ, and you found true rest in the
Lord. But the present moment does prove that you are far
from it, and you have lost touch with the good way. Like
David, to recover, you must inquire over and over. When
you do this, you’ll be assisted with the direction you need.
Why Some Don’t
Look at the Scripture, towards the end of Jeremiah 6:16
again. It says, “We will not”. They chose not to inquire for
the good way despite the opportunity. Inquiry connotes
seeking and aligning, not just asking questions orally. They
despised inquiry to their own detriment.
If you are someone who does not inquire, you probably
have disregarded the value for asking questions. And that’s
pride on the scene. It’s a fact that no one commits his or her
attention to whatever he or she lacks value for. Manoah, the
father of Samson couldn’t disregard the value of inquiring
from the Lord, how the child to be born should be raised.
He inquired of Him and got feedback through the angel.
This helped them in bringing up the child as a deliverer.
Not inquiring would have delayed Isreal’s deliverance. This
also applies to you. If you claim to value making the
necessary inquiry, prove it by what you do per time.
12
The seeming absence of answers is also a reason why some
do not inquire for the good way, where rest for their souls
is found. There are voids and seamless display of lack of
answers in certain societies and places, and so no one finds
it important to ask.
Other times, it might not have occurred to them, the need to
inquire. It could have been done, but since they have no
idea that it can be done, therefore they don’t inquire. They
see the good way – the possibilities in Christ, as things
controlled by chance rather than choice. It has not yet
dawned on them as something that could be inquired of the
Lord. There are definite ways on how to solve this issue.
Inquiring for the Good Way
The good way is not far from those who diligently inquire
about it. The best place to inquire is from the word of God.
It is the most reliable source of information and revelation
for your destination. There are many things we need to
inquire about if we must be at the center of God’s will, and
they are all found in His word (2 Timothy 3:16).
There are also many anointed books and seasoned people
that have profound answers; you ought to inquire from
them. For example, if you see a possibility in Christ
genuinely at work in someone, it is wise to ask questions
from such a person to find out the “why” and “how.” If you
do what they did, you’ll get their result because the
principles are universal (while bearing in mind, that there
are some personalized dealings). However, if what a man
or book proposes, is not rooted in God’s word and
validated by the Holy Spirit, you must disregard it right
away. But if it does, go for it and put your trust ultimately
in God, not in man. This is a crucial obligation for all.
Praying to God to inquire of Him is a great way to walk
this path. And it is one practice you must imbibe. The
ancients did this always. Inquiring through prayer opens the
doors of revelation that eventually enables advancement.
13
Ask Rightly
Your tool in sifting information as you journey to the good
way is asking rightly. There are lots of information that will
come to you on this journey when following the path of
inquiry. This is why asking the right questions is of
immense benefit. It will help you separate the grains from
the chaff, and support a better approach towards things.
Ask rightly, and you will find the right answers. I need to
stress this point again, that in inquiring for the good way,
you have to do it properly. To attempt this the wrong way,
will produce wrong results. Be wise, straightforward, and
precise with what you are inquiring about. Put in all the
effort to get the answers you need from the right sources;
that is the way you ask rightly.
A determination to use the truths you have found is also a
means of asking rightly. When you are seeking for the good
way and rest that God provides, you must not be one who
does it for the sole purpose of asking. God sees your heart,
and if your questioning is to please men and fulfill selfish
desires, do not expect an answer from Him. He can decide
that He will not be inquired of you because your heart is
not right and still rebels against His lordship and authority
(see Ezekiel 14:3).
To ask rightly, you must do it diligently and persistently.
Not all answers come from your first inquiry. “Of which
salvation the prophets have inquired and searched
diligently…” (1 Peter 1:10a). If patience is required, then
give it the waiting period it needs. If it’s a test of
persistence, let nothing stop your asking till you find what
you’re looking for. Do not forget that it must be rightly
done, if you will get the right answers.
Inquire and search for God’s plan in all areas of your
endeavour. In all aspects of life, the path of inquiry will
enable your entry into the good way. Inquire always – don’t
shortchange yourself!

CHAPTER 3
THE PATH OF KNOWLEDGE
“If you keep on ignoring what you should know, your progress will be
slow. Your knowing decides the speed of your going.”
 Lucky Ndupu

The key factor for uncovering and experiencing the good

way is knowledge. You will require knowledge of how to
get to it in order to reach there. Knowledge will simplify
your effort. It is knowledge that gives you direction
whenever you seek to get to any destination. Operating on
assumptions and attempting trial and error methods will get
you nowhere in experiencing the possibilities in God. I am
aware that we can in some ways derive knowledge from
trials. But if you will uncover the good way that God has
prepared for His sons, you will need deep enough
knowledge, not a shallow kind of knowledge.
Assumptions, trial, and error methods may spur some
discoveries but could also cause little progress. If you want
to make any meaningful progress in laying hold of the
realities in God, you will need knowledge. Finding rest for
your soul comes with the path of knowledge. Forsaking
knowledge is the same as forsaking the way to God’s
goodness and the realities He wants you to partake in. The
things in Christ for life and godliness are obtained through
the medium of knowledge.
Knowledge comes from the Greek word, Gnosis, signifying
knowing through observation or experience. To know is not
just to be intellectually informed about some abstract
principle, but to apprehend and experience reality.
Knowledge goes beyond possessing information; its highest
proof is exercise and actualization2. In order words, when
you know, it will show! Perhaps not immediately, but it is
sure to prove itself as it becomes more sufficient. Your life
always proves what you know and what you don’t know.
15
Knowledge also infers to light, having illumination and
deep insight into things and a quickened awareness. It also
describes being intimate with matters.
An Example for All
Before Paul entered the good way of the inheritance in
Christ and being used of the Lord, he had an encounter with
light and new knowledge from Jesus Christ. That light was
the reason behind his transformation from being a
persecutor to becoming an apostle. This event altered his
life forever and for the better. Still drawing from his life,
Paul found the good way through the path of knowledge by
the revelations he received (See Ephesians 3:3-5).
No one can enter the good way and find rest for their souls
if there are no guideposts to it. The slightest ignorance and
lack awareness can be a great limiting factor. If you ever
desire to leave that state of not being able to come into the
good way of the Lord and touch the supernatural,
knowledge is your escape route out of it. The good way that
God prepared for you, and the abundant rest will be far
from reach if you have no regard for knowledge.
For example, if you are desirous of experiencing the good
way of healing, where you are made whole to the point it
spreads to others with similar conditions, you must have a
firm grasp on the knowledge that initiates such an
experience of the supernatural. If you also have a desire to
be used by God for His purposes, there are secrets you must
get, and there is a knowledge of the Holy One you must
come into. This is the same with being blessed; you’ll need
knowledge. Knowledge will always give you the edge.
Sometimes, the challenge many people have is thinking
they know and yet they don’t know. Another dilemma is
being unaware of one’s ignorance plus the unwillingness to
learn, which the Bible connotes as foolishness. It says in
Proverbs 1:2, “How long, you simple ones, will you love

16
simplicity, for scorners delight in their scorning, and fools
hate knowledge.”
The 3 Most Important Knowledge
A lot of things are to be known in order for you to get to
the good way and find rest for your soul. However, I find it
useful to present what I consider to be foundational. There
are three categories of knowledge that the ancients who
once lived, constantly went after on this path.
Paul speaking, “That I may know Him and the power of
His resurrection…” (Philippians 3:10a). The first
knowledge you must have to find the good way and
experience rest for your soul is the knowledge of the Holy
One and His ways. By this, I do not mean head knowledge;
I am referring to a personal knowledge of God where you
have become so bonded with Him that you think, act, and
talk like Him. I speak of a knowledge where you are
grieved with what grieves Him, and you rejoice at things
that make Him glad. A knowledge, where out of the many
voices on the earth, you can pick what He is saying and run
with it against all odds. I speak of an experience of Him
that affects your living rather than just an awareness of
Him, that He exists somewhere above – up in the sky.
The second category of knowledge you need to have is the
knowledge of your Assignment; the purpose to which you
were sent to the earth. You will never find the good way
and rest for your soul, if the knowledge of your assignment
is missing. And when I say knowledge, I mean the
experiential knowledge of purpose, where you are already
walking in some degree of your assignment and striving for
its fulfillment with the aid of your gifts. Jesus Christ knew
His assignment, and He was set to fulfill it. The book of
Hebrews 10:7 puts it this way, “Then I said, ‘Behold, I
have come – In the volume of the book, it is written of me
– to do your will, O God.” He knew His assignment
through the book written of Him. It has been written of you
too. It is your responsibility to search for it in God.
17
It will pay more to also expand your search to how to
accomplish that which is written of you, and then commit
to it. This is where true knowledge of your assignment
exists; when you know it, and you are fulfilling it.
Lastly, you must be intimate with your Environment. This
is the third most important kind of knowledge you need.
You have to become aware of the types of environments
(realms, planes, geography, and people) and their influence
on you. When the children of Israel were to enter the good
way and rest (i.e the Promised Land), it became crucial for
them to know that environment, and so they sent spies
ahead of them. God considers the environment as very
important. The wrong ones can stop you from uncovering
the good way of the Lord. This was one major reason He
called Abram (later changed to Abraham) out of the land of
Haran (Genesis 12:1). How well can you identify, discern,
or even alter environments? You’ll need an appetite for
such before you get to that level and stature.
An Appetite for Godly Knowledge
You should have a strong appetite for godly knowledge and
flee from every ungodly one. The path of knowledge has a
duty of personally taking you to the good way and rest for
your soul, but you can’t walk this path if have no appetite
for godly knowledge; the knowledge that enables you to
find the good way and your soul’s rest. How real this
appetite is will be proven by your willingness to pay the
price for the knowledge you seek. Your time, convenience
and resources have to be exchanged to get it.
The primary way of satisfying this appetite is His word.
“Your words were found, and I ate them, and your word to
me the joy and rejoicing of my heart…” (Jeremiah 15:16).
The entrance of His word gives light. God’s word is a lamp
to your feet, and a light to your path. In this day and age,
you must lay hold of the word of God through focused
study, hearing, and the impartation from seasoned
18
ministers. The enemy dreads one who knows and keeps the
word of God, but he can easily sift those who disregard it.
Go for godly knowledge! Fight against all distractions that
make you neglect the word, for it is life unto those who
find it. When you get it, don’t be puffed up by it. Be
humble amidst insight, and use it rightly!

Paths for
Entering

CHAPTER 4
THE PATH OF CHOICE
“Choice is the spark that ignites action. Until a choice is made,
nothing happens.” – Jim Vaughan (LFTG)

The greatest power God ever gave to man is the power of

choice. The Bible tells us, life and death have been placed
before us, but what becomes your reality (whether life or
death) is dependent on your choice. Choice remains an
ancient path used to start and arrive at any destination.
Where creation has gotten to, and where it is heading for, is
influenced by the path of choice it has taken. Choice is
crucial in entering the good way. Finding rest will not come
spontaneously; a deliberate choice has to be made. This
path must be used willingly.
Do you want to be at the center of God's will? Do you
desire to find the good way that enables you to experience
the possibilities in Christ to the point it spreads to all that
concerns you? Do you want to experience the God-life
(Zoe)? If you do, the choice has to be made. If you want to
encounter new heights in the Kingdom, you must decide or
else, you will join the bandwagon’s slide. If you want to
free yourself from the life that does not profit heaven, you
have to consciously choose it. Even if you are yet to see the
evidence, I want to remind you that it starts with a choice.
Don’t think otherwise that it isn’t possible; your choice is
what makes it possible.
A scenario played out in the Bible which involved Joshua’s
proclamation of the need to make a choice, on whom the
people of Israel would serve, whether idols or the living
God. He made a personal resolve that included his
household as those taken to the path of choice towards
serving the Lord (Joshua 24:15). If you follow the path of
choice in serving the Lord, you’ll find the good way
21
because in God dwells all goodness, and in God will you
find true and lasting rest. This path is one you should
embrace from today; don’t tread the path of chance. Use
the path of choice and decide that you’ll do what God
wants you to do, go where He wants you to go, and be what
He wants you to be. Doing this is the most efficient way of
maximizing this particular ancient path. The path of choice
is a personal resolve to go along a way that is eminent of
those who have tread upon the good way and found rest for
their souls.
Never forget this, that the choice not to make a choice is
also a choice. Looks like tautology? “Yeah!” But re-read
that first sentence of this paragraph again, and meditate.
Your choice will affect your destiny, and it will determine
your results.
While There Is Breath
As long as you’re breathing, the path of choice can still be
used. It remains one of the greatest paths you can ever take
to get to the good way. Regardless of the mistakes you have
made, using the path of choice, you can still retrace your
steps. But this can only be done while you breathe,
therefore do not delay.
It is time you use the path of choice. Make a decision while
you are breathing to discover God for yourself and keep to
His statues. Use the path of choice; don’t walk on the path
of chance, taking life as it is. No! Don’t do such. More so,
do not give your path of choice towards something you’ll
end up regretting. Fight back! Use your choice in seeking
the good way, and rest for your soul. Choose rightly, for
there is breath in you. You have the power for it.
Choose Rightly Generation
At every point in time in the history of man, there has
always been a generation which chooses rightly. The
“choose rightly generation” will be those who will not
depend on convenience in doing what is right. They are the
22
ones who will no longer allow pressures within and without
to make them veer off the good way. Every century of
human civilization has a “choose rightly generation”, and I
strive to be part of that generation. I hope you do?
The story of the Moravians comes to mind when you talk
about a “choose rightly generation.” If you have not heard
of them, their lives is an encouragement that despite the
hassles, you can still choose rightly. They followed the path
of choice in constant prayers from 1727 for over 100 years.
The result was a revival that the earth cannot still recover
from. They found the good way where the Holy Ghost
came upon them and in those days, great signs and wonders
took place in their midst. From that time, scarcely a day
passed without a display of the works of the Almighty
amongst them. Prayer has always preceded the pentecost.
During a terrible storm sometime, later on, their path of
choice was faith in God. That faith is credited to have
impacted the life of John Wesley.3 Your path of choice
could have an impact on others, inspiring them to find the
good way. Choose righteousness, choose faith in God,
choose hope, choose diligence, and choose love!
The path of choice can be used for wrong purpose and
goals I must add, but just as the Moravians did, begin to
channel your choices to things that have eternal value.
Direct them to things that will benefit the community; to
things that will build the Body and revive the territory of
your dwelling. Direct your path of choice towards serving
God faithfully and genuinely. Ponder upon the best choices
you can ever make in life and take action. Doing this brings
you to the good way that God has in mind for you and
those connected to you.
Choose for yourself the good way, and make it evident.
You have the power to choose!

23
CHAPTER 5

THE PATH OF FAITH

“Faith is taking the first step even when you can‘t see the whole
staircase.” – Martin Luther King Jr.

In realizing the good way, and in finding rest for your soul,
the faith for it is of great necessity. In a world where
pessimism and fear thrives, only those who walk the path
of faith can enter into the possibilities in Christ and find
rest for their souls. These possibilities are meant for all
aspects of your life’s endeavour.
The life of the patriarch, Abraham, is a classic reference
when it comes to faith. But have you read about the story of
the four lepers. “Why sit here untill we die?”, they said.
After a heartfelt discussion about their ordeal, they
preferred the path of faith rather than fear. The path of faith
brought them into good outcomes that solved the famine
problem which had resulted from the siege. The whole
country gathered the spoils of the enemy who had deserted
their camp out of dread of been destroyed (2 Kings 7:3-20).
Whatever God has in store for you in the good way can
only be apprehended when faith for it is in place. The path
of faith gives substance to things you hope for and evidence
of things you have not seen. It is the path that leads you to
your purpose fulfillment. The path of faith re-establishes
you regardless of how battered and shattered your life is at
the moment. It’s not a path of wishes; it is a path where one
unleashes conviction and hopes against all odds.
The path of faith is for dogged people – those who don’t
bend, and those will not sink in despair despite the winds
that blow against them. They look at bad situations in the
face and say with certainty, that they will come out stronger

24
and better. They declare and put their trust in God for His
rescue. The path of faith will always lead to triumph.
Job in the Bible was in a terrible condition but still chose to
walk the path of faith (Job 2:7-10). You could be in a
similar condition which Job found himself in; you’re down
with sickness and afflicted on all sides, and even your close
relationships seem not to be helping matters. The charge is
for you to walk the path of faith. And though it may tarry,
answers will come that will silence the accuser. Even if
your case are is not as bad as Job’s, faith is still demanded
to prevail. This is a privilege that faith affords you, and
there even more privileges awaiting those who walk in it.
The Privileges of Faith’s Path
It will be good to remind you that all things in Christ are
yours. But there is a condition: they can only be accessed
through faith. For by grace you have been saved through
faith (Eph 2:8a). If you are conversant with any promise of
God over your life, if you are aware of the possibilities in
Christ, and if you have been told that there is such a life
called the God-life (Zoe), the place of rest, know from
today that it is, the path of faith that will take you there.
Through faith, the promises of God become yours without
restraint.
The path of faith has been greatly used by those who have
gone ahead of us. We have to follow this path too for us to
experience the good way they encountered and even more.
During these last days, Christ is pouring out more virtues
and graces upon His Body. Faith is the means to which you
can receive all that He is sending to the Church. The path
of faith is essential for its full delivery and maximization.
The path of faith is what keeps you focused on the end you
seek. Being on this path means you are determined to pay
the sacrifice to reach where the Lord has prepared, and if
need be, go up higher! Using the path of faith qualifies and
justifies you to receive rest that comes from God. It is
25
crucial to know that if you will endure in your pursuit of
the good way, and find rest, you have to use this path. This
path gives life, vigour, and empowers you for exploits. It
establishes you and will inspire others to take on the similar
task of reaching the ways assigned by God (Hebrews 11).
Your path of faith should be linked with God.
Direct Yours to God
The path of faith towards the good way is not something to
grasp all at once. It is a path that forms with time as new
steps are taken, which will result to stature and maturity.
For this reason, it must be directed to God.
Directing your faith’s path to God is necessary for a life
that will find rest. Putting your ultimate trust in mortals is a
recipe for disappointment. You may trust certain men who
have proven records, but let your faith rest solely on God.
Never put your ultimate faith in a man, and in your
possession. Do you know there is a woe for those who put
their faith in the arm of flesh and neglect God (Jeremiah
17:5)? This doesn’t mean you should dishonour men and
loose confidence in their promises. No! God is the one at
work in them. Honour all men, but direct your path of faith
to God. He will definitely take you to the good way and
grant you rest, because your faith stays on Him.
There are Enemies Against Yours
When the Naman heard of a prophet that could heal him, he
took on the path of faith and went to see the prophet. What
nearly faulted the path of faith was pride and disobedience
(2 Kings 5:1-14). Where pride and disobedience dwells,
whatever is acted, done, or said in the name of faith will
produce no result. Pride and disobedience are two enemies
against your path of faith that can delay you in reaching a
good way.
Another lethal enemy that is up against this ancient path of
faith is doubt and fear. Faith cannot reside with fear. They
are against each other. Where fear and doubt sets in, a
26
difficulty in reaching the good way occurs. Fear is not God,
but of the devil. It has stopped many from reaching God’s
will for their lives. You can break the grip of fear by the
word of God, and then focus more of your energy in
building higher levels of faith that is unshakable. The word
of God is very powerful for both actions (Jeremiah 23:29).
It’s Time to Build Yours
Have you ever seen where roads are being built? The
peculiar thing at such a site is the excavation, filling,
leveling, grading, with eventual finishing of tars. The
building of your faith follows a similar process. The way to
achieve this in your life requires a continual feeding on the
word of God. Your path of faith is your responsibility, and
the word of God is the basis for it. Romans 10:17a tells us,
“Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
The path of faith that takes you to the good way, is built
and laid by the entrance of the word of God. Learn to
purposefully read and listen to the word of God on a
regular basis. You are doing yourself a great favour when
you do this. In our present age, we are blessed with the
Holy Bible in several versions and formats. We also have
faith-building messages and songs in audio and video
forms. Strive to make good use of them, and remove or cut
off from everything around you that builds fear and despair.
Another way to build your path of faith is through
meditation of the word of God. Note, through hearing and
reading, you pull together the materials for laying the path
of faith, but it is meditation that makes it firm. Meditation
enables obedience. Without meditation, greater faith for a
succesful life cannot be built (Joshua 1:8).
Similar to meditation is what I call Envisioning. This is the
ability to use your imagination to see the outcomes you
want and clearly describe it on paper. When you envision
something constantly, and take little steps towards it
everyday, faith is built in the process.

27
Faith and purity are closely related. To build faith, live holy
and pure. When you live a pure life both openly and
secretly, you are creating the right atmosphere for your
faith. But whenever purity and righteous living is forsaken,
the path of faith in God cannot be built or maintained again,
except there is true repentance. Therefore be careful with
what you do, and what you feed your mind with, and with
the suggestions you allow in your thought life. If you really
want to build this path, become someone who very
selective with what he or she watches, reads or listens to,
and say in their minds. If it’s not edifying, it’s should be
trashed away immediately by replacing it with the truth.
Praying often in the Holy Ghost is a great way of building
your faith like the ancients (Jude 20). This manner of
prayer is only possible for those who are genuinely born
again and are filled with the Holy Ghost. It demands
continuity for it to be effective!
Using Your Built Path
To use this ancient path, you have to do what the ancients
did – they repeatedly confessed the word and applied the
word. Whether it is favourable or not, I urge you to do
likewise. It’s not enough to have the word of God to build
your faith, you must exercise it through daily confession
and obedience. Declare it over situations, and your
territory. Start putting obedience behind all you have heard
from God even when it’s hard or does not make sense. For
God’s ridiculous instructions will always produce the
miraculous.
It won’t be an easy path at some points. There will be
instances where it seems the route is blocked, and you’re
are not making any progress in getting to the good way.
During such periods, I encourage you to have a retreat with
God and get renewed. Learn to combine forces with others;
coorporate faith can work great wonders. One will go for a
thousand, but two will go for ten thousand! Make plans
with divine counsel and always do the needful.
28
CHAPTER 6

THE PATH OF HARKENING

“God’s promises are all on the condition of humble obedience.”
– Ellen G. White.

I once read an inspiring story of a kingdom in a distant

place. The citizens of that kingdom loved idleness and did
not harken to instructions, and it affected that domain
greatly. The king was bothered about this state of living
because this was not how things were in the first place. To
rescue the situation, he made a plan to restore a culture of
obedience with rewards. He wanted them to become aware,
that when a man harkens, there will be rewards.
Days went by and he looked for the perfect moment to
initiate his plan. Then the king got informed about a tree
that fell on the main road which led to an important part of
his territory. He sent a message across through the heralds
for it to be pulled out of the road but no one attempted to
take it off. Rather than punishing the people, he had
something else in mind. “This is a good time to act out my
plan,” the king thought to himself.
The king ordered his servants to secretly hide huge
amounts of gold below the earth just above the tree trunk.
The gold was worth a fortune. After this was done, he sent
out an instruction to his people for the removal of the tree,
and yet no one harkened. They did not obey despite the
difficulty it caused them while using that road. Whenever
someone came across it, he just maneuvers his way. But a
particular young man in the kingdom got the news about
this fallen tree and the king’s directive, and agreed to do it.
On the day he was to remove it, the king also came to the
spot with a good number of citizens who did not obey. The

29
young man harkened and got to work, using every tactic he
had to pull the tree off the road. When the king saw this, he
ordered his servants to join him. After the tree was
removed, the king brought the young man to the point
where the gold had been buried and told him to dig.
“Whatever you find there is yours to keep”, the king said.
He dug and saw the treasure. Full of excitement, he brought
it out. Other citizens stood in amazement. They could not
believe their eyes. In astonishment, they mouths were wide-
opened! Then the king reminded the citizens, “There are
always rewards when you harken. It might not be instantly,
but it will surely come if you don’t look back.”
Harken to the Lord!
Closely related to other paths we have discussed is the path
of obedience. The path of obedience is of necessity to
experience the good way, and find rest for your soul. In the
story I shared, you will discover that riches awaits anyone
who would harken. The king was not partial and so is the
Lord; anyone who harkens will be rewarded. It is an
ancient path that gives you entry to what God has in store
for the obedient. Look through scripture, and you’ll come
to realize that anyone who experienced the best the Lord
has to offer were men and women who harkened to the
core. You can’t ignore this path and still be blessed.
Noah walked the path of obedience. He was warned of an
impending flood for the world as at then. The Lord
instructed him to build an ark according to certain
specifications, and he did. With the help of his household,
he took to action. The people of his time surely would have
laughed at him, but still, he harkened. For years, he kept at
this instruction. And when he was done, he entered the ark
with his family and all species of animals he had gathered.
Then the flood gates opened, and on the earth, it rained
heavily, and all creation that were outside the ark perished
except for those in the ark. His brought safety to his
household through his obedience.

30
There is a flood coming on the earth, not like the days of
Noah I must tell you. It’s a flood of fire against evil. Those
who will be delivered are those harken to the Lord (2 Peter
3:3-7). The path of harkening to God may not be easy at
times. You may have to walk alone because the majority
will take the alternative. But it remains the best path to ever
tread upon in spite of the persecutions you will face.
The path of harkening to the Lord qualifies you for His
blessings. To reach your divine destiny, you need to harken
to the Lord. To experience lasting joy, you must harken.
Don’t be deceived, the path of disobedience will take you
to a fruitless end if you are on it. God desires that we obey,
not just because it brings glory to His name, but first and
foremost, it is to our benefit. The way He designed the
systems of His Kingdom, is that, people only experience
the best of Him when they harken unto Him completely. A
man who harkens to the Lord will last in His plans and
agenda. Jesus Christ is still our perfect example; He chose
the path of obedience to God and through it, the world is
forever changed till date.
It’s All about Obedience
No one is favoured beyond his obedience. Don’t think that
favour does not recognize obedience. Mercy may have
exemptions, but if you will experience the good way and
find rest for your soul, obedience is the path to follow. If
you will be rewarded, you have to take personal
responsibility in knowing the instructions, God has for your
life through His word. When you discover them, go ahead
to obey. Know firsthand that you can’t depend on the
obedience of others to enter into a divine promise. It has to
be yours. The obedience of others may provoke certain
blessings upon you, but your disobedience can ruin it.
Regardless of the challenges or even persecution you face
when trying to keep the word of the Lord, remember your
life is displaying a light that shines in darkness, you must
not put it off by going contrary to His will. Keep your ears
31
open to what God is saying and obey because you can only
harken well enough to what you have heard well. Jesus
Christ knew this. He heard God’s will and gave in to it. It
will be good to see how He did it and what followed.
How Christ Harkened
Everything Christ was able to receive from the Father was
not based on prayer alone; prayer was a means of
transaction, but obedience was the currency. Obedience
still remains the currency for this generation and even the
generations to come. If you recall the moments before His
arrest and crucifixion, He made it clear, “Not my will, but
Yours.” This was an ancient path He knew would enable
the salvation of humanity. The good way and rest from
afflictions for the human race would have been impossible
without the path of obedience which He took. He harkened
despite the pain and sorrow involved. The end of that path
was that the good way was reached – liberty and salvation
has now come to mankind.
Whatever God has called you to do will require that you
harken. Your desire might be on something else, totally
different. However, every call and instruction from God is
for your profiting and to His glory. This is why you must
obey. When you harken to Him, you will profit, but if you
don't, you'll be a misfit. There is no sitting on the fence.
Use the example of Christ; He harkened always. Don't
short change yourself. Harken as Christ did – to God's will,
not your will. However, you need to carry a nature that
supports your obedience to the Lord. Your obedience will
become complete if you understand and work on this
nature.
A Nature That Supports Your Walk
I have had days when obedience was a breeze. But there
were days, something else superimposed my attitude of
obedience. It bothered me for a long time, but through the
word of God, I have come to discover that two kinds of
nature can be at work even in a believer as long as he is still
32
flesh and blood. That is, the adamic nature and the Christ-
like nature. This is never an excuse for disobedience; the
adamic nature must be mortified! The adamic nature has
every tendency for disobedience even when the conscience
knows the truth. The adamic nature sees obedience as a
burden. It cannot fathom the possibility of obedience and
derives pleasure in satisfying self. If you'll walk the ancient
path of obedience, this nature has to be fully dealt with.
You need a support system and a new nature from God to
ultimately keep you on this path.
Support Systems for Harkening
The support systems as revealed by the word of God for
this includes, coming into a personal relationship with God,
and accepting His Lordship (this means you are allowing
His word to be your real basis for judgment and decisions,
not the ungodly patterns of the world). You will need to
commit the word of God into your consciousness to the
point your thinking entirely becomes the word of God. Let
His word suppress the old nature you in you.
Learn to grow yourself in the place of prayer to receive
empowerment and grace for obedience through the Spirit.
Prayerlessness weakens your ability to receive instruction
about the good way, talk more of giving heed to the Lord.
Also, become mindful of your association. Your
association will influence whether you will harken to the
Lord or do something else. If you make your company with
those who obey God, that nature that delights in this path is
strengthened.
Guard your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the
issues of life. Be careful about what you feed your mind
with. What you fill your heart with will either sponsor
obedience or disobedience. You cannot be careless with
what goes into your mind and think you can effectively
walk this ancient path of obedience. If you by chance do,
your obedience will not be complete I can assure you.
33
Finally on this subject of obedience, be reminded that
delayed obedience is disobedience. If you are serious about
this path, you need to obey God promptly. You need to be
obedient to the principles of His word. Ask Him for the
grace. Harken, and the possibilities in Christ will chase
after you and make their dwelling with you, just as it
happened with those who have go ahead of us.

Paths for
Staying

CHAPTER 7

THE PATH OF WARFARE

“Warfare happens every day, all the time. Whether you believe it or
not, you are in a battlefield. You are in warfare.”
― Pedro Okoro

Realities beyond what the senses can perceive exist in our

world. The ancients understood this and aligned themselves
in order become capable of staying in the good way and
finding rest for their souls. They did so through path of
warfare when the season demanded of it. The path of
warfare is a path the ancients used in accessing the good
way of triumph and victory. The path of warfare is
essentially a route that is necessary for overcomers. It is an
ancient path that cannot be ignored. If you will remain of
the good way, if rest for your soul will become a reality, if
you will experience the possibilities in the Christ, and if
you must come near and lay hold of certain kinds of
inheritance in the Kingdom, you must be ready to do battle!
You can’t rise successfully to the high places in God if you
don’t follow this path, to combat the enemies that war
against your soul.
The Purpose and Power of Warfare
Warfare was used by the ancients for gaining territory. It
was used to also establish a rule in new domains. In this
present time, which is a prologue to the consummation of
events4, you must realize that warfare is always ongoing
right before you even when you don’t feel or see it. You
may not see them, but with the eyes of the spirit, you can
notice that there is serious warfare going on to prevent
people from their rest. It is a warfare that can’t be missed.
One time in my life, a mentor of mine gave me a secret to
overcoming the wiles of the enemy. At that time in life, I

36
battled with personal problems only known to me and a few
trusted friends. His advice was profound, using the life of
David as a classic example, he told me that the only way
you gain victory is to go for war. When I gave heed, I
found out it works!
This did not refer to physical warfare, but spiritual and
mental dimensions of war. There is no doubt you are more
than a conqueror in Christ, but to enforce and sustain every
victory gotten, you must use the path of warfare and put to
action, the rules the ancients engaged during warfare for a
triumph.
The Rules of Engagement
There are five rules of engagement I have discovered from
my study of the word, and from wars that have occurred.
They are as follows:

 Know your Enemy: The first rule of engagement is

to identify the enemy. Failing to know who the real
enemy is will make you fight battles that you cannot
win, because your efforts will be wasted on what
seems to be the enemy, rather than who the real
enemy is. The Devil and his cohorts, the systems of
the world, and flesh are your real enemies. Don’t
play dice with them, and don’t give in to their
terms. You have to become acquainted with how
they operate through the word of God and arm
yourself against their tactics. This is a necessity
(2 Corinthians 2:11).
 Know the Battleground: The second rule of
engagement is to know where the battleground is.
On this path of warfare, the battleground is
categorised into three planes. The first plane is the
minds of people. Secondly, the heavenlies (the
second heaven). The third plane is the physical
world. The results of the warfare in the heavenlies
and in the mind is displayed in the physical world.

37
These battlegrounds are heavily contested. Victory
or defeat depends on what occurs there. You must
take charge of these battlegrounds through God’s
empowerment and leading (Ephesians 6:12).
 Know your Strategy and Armour: The armour
used by the ancients were to be kept in good
conditions. Each component of the armour served a
purpose. The Lord through Apostle Paul charges
every believer to put on the whole armour of God.
To put on means, to know them practically, and to
use them all. Lacking one piece of armour can still
cause defeat. Have you checked if you are dressed
up in this armour lately? You must be dressed up in
them to maintain your stay on the good way.
(Ephesians 6:10-18)
Strategy is also of utmost importance, and you get it
through counsel (Proverbs 20:18). As a rule, you
will need a superior strategy that you are committed
to, because your enemies will have a strategy they
are using. Examples of strategy could include
watches of the night to do battle, words to declare,
God’s promises to believe, fights not to worry
about, traps to avoid, and a pattern of life to live.
Other strategies could be, a knowledge to operate
with, associations to break or build, actions to take,
testimonies to hold on to, and memorials to raise in
the place of worship, prayer and giving (Joshua 6).
 Know your Ally: The fourth rule of engagement
the ancient used on the path of warfare is to have
allies to support them. The greatest ally you need
for the path of warfare is the Lord of hosts.
Involving Him in your warfare puts you ahead of
the enemy. But do note: Every ally has terms by
which they join forces with you. The terms of the
Lord in warfare is for you to be strong, courageous,
and obedient to His strategy. Deborah, the
prophetess understood this, and aligned the nation
of Israel with the Great Ally, who gave them His
38
strategy and presence (Judges 4:1-7). The angels of
the Lord are your allies, and they are not to be
worshiped. They are not your slaves; they are only
assigned to help you and watch over you. There is a
need to understand their operations and how you
can cooperate with them (Psalm 103:20-22).
Faithful and trustworthy believers around you are
also allies in certain types of warfare. You work
with them through the unity of faith and deed (Acts
4:31). Don’t try to fight alone throughout your life,
but hook up with your allies, most especially the
Great Ally. Victory is more secured through it.
 Offend and Defend: The fifth rule of engagement
on the path of warfare is to offend and defend. We
are wired most times to only defend; we wait for the
enemy to strike before we awake from our slumber.
However, one great secret to winning on this path of
warfare is to be on the offensive. When you are
experiencing the peace of God or seeming freedom,
it does not negate the need to continually offend the
enemy lines that war against your soul, through a
God-given strategy. There is also a need to build a
defense system that can’t be penetrated; this
defence is enabled by being alert and constantly
prepared. Your defence system is fortified through
quality fellowship with God and your obedience.
Understanding and applying these rules will help you on
this path. It requires practical use just as the ancients held
on to it, not just a mere knowledge of them. They are
timeless truths for this path. Please don’t take them lightly!
Always bearing in mind, the need for consistency.
If you have failed at any time in the path of warfare, where
your adversaries won, I encourage you to get back on your
feet. Rise up to the demand and put the enemies against
your rest where they rightly belong – under your feet. They
are no match for you only if you make God your ally.

39
CHAPTER 8
THE PATH OF CONSISTENCY
“Consistency is one of the biggest factors that leads to
accomplishment and success.”
 Bryon Pulsifer

No one amounts to anything in God without being

consistent! There is no growth where it is missing. No faith
will be established without it. Results that lasts are
impossible in its absence, and having an enduring stay in
the good way, that the Lord makes available, will be
unreachable wherever it is neglected. The path of
consistency is a path the ancients followed to experience
the possibilities in Christ and command results. The Bible
is full of examples of men and women who followed the
path of consistency.
What comes to your mind when the name Daniel is
mentioned? No matter what you say concerning his exploits
in Babylon, one particular factor was responsible for all the
good way he came across, and the perfect rest he found.
The factor was, he followed the path of consistency. The
classic example of Daniel is one I admire. Alongside his
three friends, they took to the path of consistency in regards
to what they would eat in a strange land. They were
consistent in applying the laws of God even in a foreign
environment and this singled them out (Daniel 1:8-20). It is
not a deed at times that bring results, but the consistency of
that deed. Another time, there was a decree by the king that
disallowed prayer, but Daniel’s consistency could not
acknowledge that (Daniel 6:1-11).
I propose that he prayed not to intentionally disobey; prayer
was already a constant practice for him and had become
part of him. The threat meant nothing but a call to pray
more for a deliverance and restoration of his people. Can
40
you remain consistent even when there are threats and
challenges? Can you be unfailing like the early church?
Consistency and the Early Church
The early church used the path of consistency and it
resulted to the good way. They experienced growth beyond
measure and the workings of God. If you want that reality,
do what they did, and you’ll see the hand of God.
“So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and
breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food
with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and
having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the
church daily those who were being saved.” (Acts 2:46-47)
If they were not consistent, the church would not have
experienced the good way; they would not have touched
favour and increase. Look around you, for example, have
seen any man who is favoured and growing who was not
consistent with certain good practices? I doubt there is. If
there is, it will be short-lived. It is the same with your own
bid to find the good way. The ancients understood this –
amid challenges, they found new methods to maintain their
consistency through the force of habit and grace from the
Lord. Consistency is a matter that matters!
The Habit and Grace Dimensions
The path of consistency is achievable by habit and grace
from God. If anything is habitual, it will be consistent. If
there is a grace for it, it will be consistent. Habit is the
contribution of a man, while grace for consistency is the
contribution of God. They work together. What I mean is
this: consistency has to be developed by doing what you
ought to do, over and over again, through personal decision
and action. If you lazy around waiting for the grace of God
to come on you before you become consistent in what is of
importance, you will probably wait for a lifetime. My
personal opinion is that, when God sees you’re making
efforts to be consistent, he then supplies grace for it. A man
41
by nature can be inconsistent even with things that are truly
beneficial. That is why a habit, and the grace of God, has to
raise one’s level of consistency. The grace is a divine
enablement, but your habit towards being consistent is your
commitment in reaching the good way and finding rest for
your soul. Your commitment is where you labour despite
the availability of grace. And this has to be reflected in all
areas of your life (1 Corinthians 15:10).
An All-Round Consistency
On the path of consistency, methods may change, but the
right principle and disciplines remain. The path of
consistency will make a little difference, if it is aimed at
one aspect of life, with neglect to other areas of living. The
good way and rest that God has in mind for you, is not
restricted to one area of life. The Lord is a God of All-
round increase. However, I show you a mystery: All-round
increase depends on your all-round consistency, just like
Jesus Christ increased (Luke 2:52). I urge you to become
consistent in all areas of your life. Become consistent in the
growth of the spiritual, mental, physical, and social aspects
of your life.
The path of consistency also has a role to play in all
previous paths we have discussed in this book. You have to
be known for being consistent with the right desires,
inquiry, knowledge, and choice. You have to show
consistency in the path of faith, harkening, and warfare and
also, in love (which is coming up in the next chapter). I also
wish to submit to you, the need to be consistent with
whatever vision the Ancient One gave to you. Hold on to it
no matter what. These actions will make you a man with
all-round consistency. It will however require boosting
from time to time because of new challenges.
Boost Your Consistency
Earlier on, I obviously shared with you the habit and grace
dimensions of consistency. But are you aware of some

42
practical steps to boosting those dimensions when issues
arise?6
Firstly, you need a plan. Your habit, and the grace that
sponsors consistency needs it. This will improve its
efficiency. For instance, if you want to be consistent
through habits, you will need a plan of what and how to
intentionally trigger and enable the habit. All habits have
their triggers. This could be feeding your consciousness
with the right words, thoughts, songs, and images. You also
need to schedule activities you wish to be consistent in and
keep to the plan. For the grace for habit, you need a plan of
renewal through prayer and the word of God, which
ultimately boosts your consistency by the Spirit of God
(Acts 4:23-21). This is not something unbiblical. Man is a
tripartite being; his consistency towards a thing can be
influenced from different areas. This plan puts you in
charge of what influences your habit; you are not leaving it
to chance.
Secondly, what Daniel did must be in place: He resolved in
his heart (Daniel 1:8). Most things we are finding hard to
be consistent in, is because, we have not fully resolved in
our hearts. A personal resolve will strengthen a habit and
give grace of God an opportunity to operate towards the
path of consistency. This has to be backed up with
confession and actions.
Thirdly, allow for changes. Like I said before, the path of
consistency allows for change of methods, but the
principles, purpose, and disciplines remain. Become aware
that change is part of life and even the ancients knew this
and adapted. There was a time Apostle Paul consistently
preached with his mouth, later on, he changed to writing
letters.
Fourthly, move at a realistic pace. You cannot improve
your consistency if the pace you set for yourself is
unrealistic. Say for instance you want to use the path of
43
consistency in the place of prayer. If you have not
succeeded in praying one hour per day, how do you think
you can be consistent with at a new pace of six (6) hours
per day? It’s not realistic. Even God honours process, and
your rising with the right pace!
The fifth way to boost your consistency, especially when
you are finding it difficult, is to work with a partner,
mentor, or group with regards to whatever you want to be
consistent in. The ancients were not always lone rangers.
They joined forces to help their path of consistency where
the need arises. If you do likewise, these people will serve
as sources of encouragement and wisdom. They will hold
you accountable when you are defaulting, and challenge
you to go further. Do a study on Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 and
begin to ponder on how to walk this path. However, there is
need for caution and discernment. Not everyone fits in your
quest to find the good way and gain rest for your soul. But
there are others that God has prepared to help you. Look
out for them and bond!
Finally, this remains a challenge for every one of us. We
must strive for consistency. The path of consistency should
be embraced just like the ancients held unto it.

44
CHAPTER 9

THE PATH OF LOVE

“Without love and all of its magnificent qualities, life is
tasteless and not worth living.” – Joyce Meyer

One thing is needful, that is, getting to know the efficacy of

the path of love. It is an ancient but eternally relevant path
that makes the world go round. The path of love is the
hallmark of all paths. It is the greatest and so does impacts
the most. No story comes to mind as I write than that of
Jesus Christ. Everything He achieved was borne from this
path. Love moved him from the glory realm to the earthly
realm to save humanity from the oppression of darkness.
This was a proof of the everlasting love that the Father
loves us with (Jeremiah 31:3). Jesus was sent and He
obeyed. He did a lot from this path of love which birthed
eternal life for those who believe (John 3:16). He has done
and is still doing His part on this route, but the question
remains, when would you truly reciprocate His love for you
just like those who have gone ahead of us? When would
you commit to this path, and what actions will you take?
A Great Necessity
History is full of evidence that something is lacking in our
world. And though it exists in certain quarters, it is still
missing on a large scale – love! The driving force of almost
all problems in the world such as wars, impoverishment,
greed, corruption, perversion, etc. is selfishness. It can
make a man trade a meaningful relationship for money. It
seeks to satisfy carnal cravings rather than godly cravings.
It places importance just to itself and not on others. I
believe selfishness has caused more havoc than any natural
disease over the centuries.

45
The path of selfishness has only one remedy. And that is,
the path of love. The path of love can make a difference
only if you decide to keep to it. You will impact others
positively if you live by a decision to walk this ancient path
of love; going all out for the sake of others.
Take a moment to think. Are you not burdened by the real-
life problems other people face? Are your ambitions
focused only on your personal needs? Are you less
concerned about the plight of your neighbours? If that is
your position, I would honestly say, you are part of the
problem of the world. But if you have already chosen this
path of love, where the problem of others is your burden,
you’ll definitely come into the good way and find true rest.
When God’s kind of love is given out, it returns back in
large folds and loads you with blessings of joy, satisfaction,
and peace. In the Gospels, Jesus gave a command, that you
love your neighbor as you would love yourself (Luke
10:27). This command is towards those within and without.
Anytime you keep to this rule, you bring a sunshine to the
scene and alter situations for the better. Love has to be
practical – not just something you say with your mouth.
Place your Feet on it
It takes a conscious effort to truly and fully walk the path of
love. It has to be directed towards the Lord and others. In
true sense, we are all plagued with one level of selfishness
or the other. We tend to be most conscious of our own
selves and our possessions, and this not entirely bad when
it regards to your responsibility. Selfishness and being self-
conscious may sound similar, but based on my opinion,
they are in many ways different.
Going back to our emphasis, love. To place your feet on
this path will require that you to go out of your way to act
for the benefit of those who are in problems you can solve
personally or by referral. There is something you have that
can be a means of reaching out in love.
46
When you place your feet on the path of love, you’re
identifying with God, for God is love. He honours anyone
who does this genuinely. This is because, He finds delight
in such acts of love that are driven towards helping and
caring, especially when they spring from a love motive.
Beyond an Outward Show
I once read an article on this subject. It revealed that one
crucial thing that must be part of the life of a believer is
love. How true! If you want to live how the ancients did
successfully, you should be aware that your love should be
real. It has to be beyond an outward show! Acts of love are
very important, but what sustains those acts is a nature. The
nature of love helps you to walk this path, to find the good
way for much longer periods than mere acts.
The nature of love is built into those who agree to have
God dwelling on their inside. The Bible tells us that God is
love (1 John 4:8). It is His nature to love. Ask him to fill
you up with His nature, so that loving Him and the people
He made, will not be a challenge anymore. I am confident
that He will answer you if you call out to Him.
Some ‘acts of love’ by people have wrong motives due to a
lack of this nature I spoke about. You can be a victim of
such too, so be alert, and secure this path. For your path of
love to be secured, your motive need to be defined and
refined. It should never be to make a name for yourself or
to create a false impression. Don’t be someone who
pretends he or she cares, while in the background, would
plan and say evil against others – failing out in true love.
What is the Greatest Need?
Man’s greatest need is to love and be loved. Sowing love is
to walk this ancient path of love, where you find the good
way and rest. 1 Corinthians 13 gives more insight on this,
and I encourage you to study that chapter. You must remain
wise in directing this path to God, His Kingdom, and the
people he created, and even your enemies (Matthew 5:44).
47
But note that this reciprocation of love to enemies is but to
a category. Not all enemies are repaid with love whatsoever
(spiritual enemies need no love; you don’t develop a soft
spot for the Adversary – you engage in warfare with Christ
leading the way. I have shared light on this in the chapter
on Warfare). In all, wisdom is profitable to direct.
A Path with Four Dimensions
There are four dimensions to the path of love (Ephesians
3:17-18). Your path of love is not complete if any of these
dimensions is lacking. These dimensions are responsible
for experiencing the good way and finding rest. I will try
not to be complex about this, so you can have a full
understanding.

 The first dimension on this path is passion. Passion

is requisite in the path of love. Passion is proven by
a strong pursuit.
 The second dimension is commitment. This implies
engagement and obligation towards a thing, a
person, or a cause. Commitment leads to
fulfillment, a good way which many seek.
 The third dimension of this path is pleasure. This
infers finding satisfaction or fondness with a thing,
person, or cause.
 The fourth and highest dimension of this path is
sacrifice. This is letting go of something dear to you
for the sake of someone or something which you
hold close to your heart.7
It takes time to fully function on these dimensions. You
have to learn along the path and ask the Lord to help you.
You have to be practical about it everywhere you find
yourself. Seize every moment you have to show love with
the little you possess. Make a mark on the lives of people!
Love remains an ancient path that will bring you to the
good way, and the place of rest. It is high time you walk
more in it and experience the joy that comes through it!
48
49
CONCLUSION
REST FOR YOUR SOULS
If you have been beaten up by life, these paths will help
you find relief and restore you. If you have been embattled
by the past, this will cause a triumph. You will encounter
the possibilities in Christ and every inheritance you have in
your heavenly Father through them. You can’t be stopped
again if you key into it!
The ancients knew these things that you’ve read thus far.
Sometimes I wonder if we can all be successful in walking
these ancient paths in our changing times. But God assures
each and every one of us, that we can. We should and we
must! God is faithful, but you have to play your own part
just like those who have gone ahead of us.
Don’t behave like those who said, “We will not!”
Remember for this decision made, they encountered many
problems and defeat. I don’t want you to go the way they
did. I am passionate about walking these paths and seeing
others like you doing the same.
From the path of desire, inquiry, and knowledge meant for
uncovering the good way, you have also received
understanding, I believe, about the path of choice, faith,
and harkening. They are very essential for entering the
good way. Finally, we looked at the path of warfare,
consistency, and love which will ensure you stay
continually on the good way and experience abundant rest
for your soul. Do well to check where you are. You can use
the Assessment in the Appendix to evaluate yourself.
Finally, I charge you by the mercies of God, to be very
deliberate about these paths. Let us not waste our remaining
days on earth going through the wrong routes. Depend on
the Lord for this, and commit yourself to these ancient
paths, and teach others too. They are paths to the good way
for this life and beyond, where rest for your soul is realized.

THE PATH BEFORE ALL PATHS
The Path of Salvation
If you are yet to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and
Saviour, this is the first place to start. You can be
saved and brought into a personal relationship with
God.
Or perhaps you were saved before, but now you’ve
backslidden. You can still rededicate your life today
and receive a fresh start regardless of your mistakes, so
you can walk the ancient paths and find rest. Please
say this prayer with all your heart:
“Lord Jesus, I come to you. I believe you died on
the cross and you rose again from the grave for my
justification and salvation. Wash me with your
blood and come into my heart. Be the Lord of my
life. Save me from my sins. Send your Holy Spirit
into my heart. I am now saved! Thank you for
saving me. In Jesus’ name! Amen”
Congratulations! If you said this prayer with faith, you
now have a fresh start with God to walk the ancient
paths. I urge you to find a Bible-believing church
where the word of God is taught without bias and
commit yourself to a life of prayer. Be strong and
courageous; it won’t be a smooth ride at some points.
However, this is the most important decision you can
ever make in life. Remember Jesus Christ said, “Lo, I
am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
