Reset Button
Avoid using the Reset button unless absolutely necessary. Read and understand the
following material before using the Reset button.
The Reset button is only functional when pressed with the MACH-Pro1™ controller
powered down. It is not necessary to remove the cover to press the Reset button; however,
a tool with a thin protrusion of at least 6 mm (0.25") in length will be required.
Starting with the MACH-Pro1™ controller powered down, there are three different results of
a Reset button press, each dependent on how long the Reset button is held down. The
firmware remains intact during all three procedures.
User Interface
OVERVIEW
TABLE 5: RESULTS OF RESET BUTTON PRESS
Clear Description
Non-Volatile With the power off, press and hold the Reset button for two
RAM seconds. The Clear Non-Volatile RAM method resets the
capacitor-backed RAM memory, clearing Trend Log data,
Runtime Log data, BACnet Address Binding Table, BACset Table,
NET Ins and Net Outs, and Variable present values. Variable
values go to the last written value saved in the Flash backup of the
database. (All of these items are automatically regenerated after
the controller returns to normal operation.)
Database Press and hold during a power up, and release within five seconds
after power up. The status LED located below the power switch
flashes once per second. The Clear Database method resets the
capacitor-backed RAM (as described above), and also clears the
database. The controller pan file will need to be restored following
this action.
MSet Press and hold during a power up, and release after the reset
sequence is complete. The status LED located below the power
switch will flash five times. The MACH-Pro1™ controller will remain
off for 2–3 seconds, then all of the status LEDs will flash repeatedly
for 2–3 seconds, at which point normal operation will resume. The
Reset button must be held down until this sequence is complete.
The Clear MSet method produces the results described above
and also clears the MSet configuration. The MACH-Pro1™
controller reverts to the factory default configuration.
USER GUIDE
The onboard expansion module always uses address number 1 on I/O-Net. If additional
expansion modules are connected externally to I/O-Net, the first external address will
always be number two.
The MACH-Pro1™ is available in two models. The MP1 does not include Hand/Off/Auto
(HOA) switches. Each of the eight outputs on an MP1-H model is equipped with an HOA
switch and override potentiometer hard-wired into the output circuit. When an HOA switch
is in the HAND position, the voltage at the output terminals is determined by the associated
potentiometer. It is recommended to use a flat-blade screwdriver when adjusting the
potentiometer, being careful to not make contact with any sensitive electronics. Rotating
the potentiometer clockwise results in higher voltage, while counter-clockwise results in a
lower voltage. The associated output’s LED will dim or brighten in relation to the output
voltage. The factory default position for the output potentiometers (fully clockwise) results
in full voltage being connected to the output.
When an HOA switch is in the OFF position, the output voltage is zero. When an HOA
switch is in the AUTO position, the output voltage is determined by software programming
in the host controller, or by a software override command from an RC-Studio® 2.0
workstation.

CONFIGURATION
OVERVIEW
RC-TOOLKIT: MSET TOOL
Before attempting network communication to any port of the MACH-Pro1™ controller, the
port must be configured using the RC-Toolkit™ 2.0 application.
Each enabled network of the MACH-Pro1™ controller must have a unique network number.
On each enabled network, all device addresses must be unique. Duplications will cause
erratic network performance.
After the MACH-Pro1™ controller installation and workstation connection are complete,
perform the following steps to establish a network identity for the controller.

PORT SETUP
PC/MODEM
The Initialization String field value is utilized by the MACH-Pro1™ to initialize an external
modem connected to this port. The default string is shown; however, this may be modified,
if required.
If a password is entered in the PTP Password field, then any BACnet® PTP device or
workstation connecting to the port will need to submit the same password in order to
connect to the port.
The Modem Dial-Out Configuration button opens the Modem Dial-Out Configuration
dialog box, which provides serial port settings to use when initiating a dial-out from
Control-BASIC. This is especially useful when using the APDIAL statement for
alphanumeric pagers, which typically use the 7-E-1 setting.

SMART-NET
Enabling the Enable X-Port Access field creates an internal physical connection between
MS/TP Net and two poles of the controller SMART-Net™ port. If enabled, operators can
connect their workstation to the SMART-Net™ port, or to any SMART-Sensor™ equipped
with an RJ11 port that is wired to the SMART-Net™ port, using the X-Port-2™ converter. If
disabled, MS/TP-Net is isolated from the SMART-Net™ bus, preventing X-Port-2™
communications and eliminating a possible source of EIA-485 network noise in the
system.
MS/TP-NET
The Baud field can be set using a dropdown. Baud options are Auto-Baud, 9600, 19200,
38400, and 76800.
FIGURE 22: PORT SETUP DIALOG BOX, MS/TP BAUD AND NETWORK NUMBER
The Advanced button can be selected to choose a different BACnet network number;
however, this is typically not necessary and not recommended.
For a workstation or device connected to the controller's PTP port, all devices connected
to the controller's MS/TP-Net port will appear as residing on network 65,534, or whatever

USER GUIDE
The MS/TP-Net port utilizes EIA-485 communications for all options. The requirements for
a functional EIA-485 network are described below.
The MACH-Pro1™ EIA-485 removable network terminal block is located on the left side of
the device.
OVERVIEW
1 Using EIA-485 certified communication cable, with an ideal Characteristic
Impedance of 108 Ohms, 18 or 22 AWG two conductor, twisted and shielded, and
low capacitance (below 25 pF/ft), connect one conductor to the A- terminal and the
other to the B+ terminal of the controller.
2 Daisy-chain the network cable as shown below (avoid star and stub connections).
3 Ground the shielding in one place only and join inter-networked shields together
using a wire nut (marrette). Each network should only have the shield grounded in
a single location.
Shield
Shield Ground
USER GUIDE
On all EIA-485 networks, except I/O-Net, it is necessary to add EOL terminators to prevent
reflected noise returning into the network. The EOL terminators must be installed on the
controllers at the extremities of the network.
If the network is not terminated properly, the MACH-Pro1™ controller may fail to network.
Each EIA-485 network should have only two controllers with the EOL switches set to the IN
position.
Glowing network bulbs indicate a problem which could be: the Class 2 power is crossed
(24 VAC and GND) between two controllers, or the ground potential between two controllers
is not the same.

JUMPERS
An MP1 can monitor up to twelve input devices. The electrical characteristic for each input
is configured using the jumper located beneath the removable cover, to the right of each
input terminal.
The three-pin input jumpers have three positions and correspond to the following input
types:
• 4–20 mA.
Outputs
RANGES
A status LED is provided for each input, which brightens in proportion to the voltage
measured at the input. If the input is at the bottom of its range, the LED is off. If the input
is at the top of its range, the LED is fully bright.
OUTPUTS
An MP1 can control up to eight physical output devices. The range of each output, and
whether the output is analog or two-position, is set using RC-Studio® 2.0.
All eight outputs are wired as dedicated Universal outputs which provide 0–12 VDC at a
maximum of 75 mA.
USER GUIDE
The MP1 is available in two models. The base model does not include Hand/Off/Auto
When an HOA
switch is in the AUTO position, the output voltage is determined by software programming
in the host controller, or by a software override command from an RC-Studio® 2.0 work-
station.
LEDS
Each output has a red status LED which brightens in proportion to the voltage at the output
terminals. At zero volts, the LED is off, at 12 VDC the LED is fully bright.
The MP1 is equipped with an adjustable DC power supply for use in powering peripheral
transducers. The power supply can produce up to 0.2 Amps, adjustable between 15 and
24 VDC.
