The Southwest Alabama Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is
pleased to announce the acceptance of applications for The Dr. Jacquelyn L.
Denson Academic Scholarship. This scholarship is named in honor of our first
chapter president who was instrumental in the chartering of our chapter in April
2004. In recognition of her unwavering dedication and unselfish love for our
youth, we dedicate this scholarship in her name.

The Dr. Jacquelyn L. Denson Academic Scholarship ANNOUNCEMENT

The Southwest Alabama Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. is proud to announce the
acceptance of applications for one of our Dr. Jacquelyn L. Denson Academic Scholarships. This
scholarship is available to any high school senior who will be attending an accredited college or
university for the scholastic year 2021-2022.

Initial requirements for consideration include the following:

Scholastic average of 2.5 or above on a 4.0 scale or 3.0 on 5.0 scale
Commendable participation in school and community activities.
Exhibition of good moral character.
Financial need.

Acceptance Requirements:
Fall semester schedule postmarked by October 2, 2021.
Spring semester schedule postmarked by February 5, 2022.
AND Acceptance letter must include your student ID number.

Application Packets must include:

____ Completed scholarship application. Photocopies are acceptable.

____ A sealed copy of your official transcript. Include ACT Score.

____ Two (2) letters of recommendation –one of which should come from a teacher.

____ A résumé outlining ALL your activities and affiliations. (Be sure résumé lists community service,
leadership, clubs and organizations, and church activities.)

____A typed one-page essay detailing why you should receive a scholarship and include your future
goals.

Applications will not be considered without the information listed above.

Completed application packets (including all items outlined above) should be postmarked on or before
Saturday, May 1, 2021 and mailed to:
