Maleficent

The movie ¨Maleficent¨ was a Disney production based on one of the most
popular Grimm Brothers fairy tales, ¨The Sleeping Beauty¨, but with a little twist
this time, because in this film Aurora will not be the main character but
Maleficent.
As we mentioned before, the storyline focuses on Maleficent and her life. The
movie first shows us what Maleficent’s life was like as a kid. She was just
another fairy living happy and peacefully in the woods with all of the other
creatures. She fell in love with a guy named Stefan at a very young age but years
later, he stopped caring about her and cut her wings off to become the king the
kingdom. From that moment on, Maleficent stopped being as kind and sweet as
she used to and she started hating the human kingdom so much that when
Stefan’s daughter, Aurora, was born she cursed her and said that once she turns
sixteen she will fall asleep and will not ever wake up again.
Unlike the book, the movie shows us how truly kind-hearted Maleficent was and
how she always took care of Aurora. I know it sounds kind of crazy seeing how
someone that has cursed you tries to take care of you, but that is just the clear
proof that Maleficent was not really evil at all and that was she did when the
princess was born was just an act of revenge towards her father.
When I first watched this movie I was 9 years old and it was one of my favorite
films for a long time. Even though it’s not as innocent and magical as other
Disney movies, I think it is a very entertaining story and almost anyone at any
age can watch it. It also makes you see the popular fairy tale from a whole
different point of view and makes you think about how in real life situations the
people who are considered ¨mean¨ can be carrying a very sad story in their backs.
