Slide 1:

When I was young, I loved Disney movies. Looking back, I don’t think the Disney characters
are good role models for young kids.

Slide 2:
Snow White
Snow white is the youngest princess in Disney history and she gets married at the end of the
story. In real life, we can’t get married at the age of 14.

Slide 3:
Woody
Woody tried to make Andy not like Buzz because he wanted to be Andy's favourite. The kids
get the impression that they must always be the favourite.

Slide 4:
Aurora
Aurora is the only princess to have arranged a marriage at the end of the story. In real life, it
is legal to arrange the marriage in Canada but it could give the fantasy to young girls about
finding romance in arranged marriage.

Slide 5:
Ariel
Ariel gives the young girls wrong ideas how they could become a mermaid and human at the
same time.

Slide 6:
Ursula
Ursula wants to take away Ariel's voice in the film, and it teaches young children that it is
acceptable to envy and take things away from other people.

Slide 7:
Jasmine
Jasmine pets the tiger but in reality, it is illegal to pet the dangerous animal in Canada so
Jasmine is a bad role model for young girls.

Slide 8:
Rapunzel
Rapunzel follows a stranger (which is Flynn) who breaks into her house and it could teach the
kids the idea of following some random stranger.

Slide 9:
Moana
Moana sails the boat even if she doesn’t know how to sail so children might decide to sail a
boat without considering how dangerous it is.
Slide 10:
Pocahontas
In the film, Pocahontas is being racist, and this could impact the kids' perception that it is
acceptable to be racist.

Slide 11:
Mulan
Mulan lied to the military saying that she is a man and served for the country. It gives the
children the idea that it is okay to lie if it’s a white lie.

Slide 12:
Wreck-It Ralph
Wreck-It Ralph broke the rule in the movie by entering the other game when he wasn’t
supposed to. This idea allows kids to think that breaking rules is acceptable.

Slide 13:
Ernesto De La Cruz
In the movie, De La Cruz stole Hector’s song and got famoused and saying that he is the one
who wrote the song. De La Cruz’s mind affects kids’ ideas that it is okay to plagiarise.

Slide 14:
Raya
Raya didn’t listen to her father saying not to trust anyone with the crystal but she didn’t listen
to her father. This scene shows young kids that it is okay to not listen to parents.

Slide 15:
Elsa
In the movie, Elsa has a magic hand but in real life, there is no magic so it gives the kids that
the magic exists.

Slide 16:
Anna
Anna got engaged with a princess in less than a day after she talked to him and this idea
could impact the children’s idea of getting married to a person you don’t really know well.

Slide 17:
Cruella
Since Cruella killed numerous dogs for her own gain, the young kids might conclude that
torturing animals for one's own gain is acceptable.

Slide 18:
Captain Hook
In the movie, Captain Hook didn’t care for his crew members and it represents a bad example
of a leader for children.

Slide 19:
Jafar
Jafar took the advantage of the king's generosity and used it for his personal benefit. It could
give the idea that it is okay to take advantage of someone’s kindness.

Slide 20:
Even if they are good characters, not all the fantasy characters are good role models for
young kids.
