Kidnap

Marco Polo Marco... Marco, Frankie? The worst can happen in a split second,

turning the world upside down, and the choice a person makes will dictate the rest of their lives.

The movie Kidnap starring Halle Berry is a must-see film. The movie was based on a woman

named Karla Dyson (Halle Berry), a single mother, and her son Frankie. In the movie Karla was

in the park when she received a phone call from her soon to be ex- husbands attorney requesting

full custody of their child. During the phone call Karlas son was kidnapped. In that moment, the

mother dropped everything including her phone and purse to try and catch her sons kidnapper.

Kidnap has everything an action-packed movie should have, by keeping the audience at the edge

of their seat, great actors, and heart-pounding emotions.

In the movie, there were many heart-pounding emotions. Not only did the mother go

through these emotions, the audience did as well as she was blaming herself for her childs

abduction. A mother would never give up on rescuing their child, same as for Karla. Throughout

the movie the mother could not control herself or her emotions she was an emotional wreck. For

instance, whenever Karla was chasing the car that kidnapped her son, she would cry out for help,

honk her horn, draw any type of attention to herself, but no one helped her. At the beginning on

the movie the mother lost her phone, therefore, she could not get ahold of the police or contact

any authority. Kidnap is a heart aching film because a mother would do anything to get her child

back, absolutely

anything. Karlas only hope was to follow the kidnappers she even tried to beg and negotiate

with them, but nothing was stopping them. According to Donna Owens, heroism emerges as she

mentally and physically pushes herself to the limit to rescue her child (Owens). Although Karla

was not mentally or physically prepared, the love she had for her child pushed her to the limits

beyond to what she thought she could do. Many mothers can relate to this movie because parents

love their children unconditionally and would go through many obstacles to get their child back

safe and in their arms.

Throughout the movie there were many action-packed scenes that grabbed the audience

attention and had them at the edge of their seats. Shes a single- minded mama bear intent on

protecting her cub, jumping behind the wheel of her red minivan and speeding after the goons

responsible (Debruge). Karla showed bravery and perseverance during the multiple obstacles

she encountered. During the entire movie Halle Berry (Karla) was in a high-speed chase all

throughout New Orleans trying to rescue her son. What made the movie traumatic was when

Karla was driving her minivan erratically all around New Orleans intersection. During the chase

Karla was driving out of control by, slamming on the brakes, adjusting the course of her driving,

and completely oblivious as to where shes going. They were many accidents throughout the

movie from a highway crashes to killing innocent people. At one point in the movie Karla lost

eye contact with the kidnappers so she then went to the nearest police station in a rundown town.

While the mother was at the police station there was a wall displayed of hundreds of missing

children. Karla knew then she did not have any time to lose and must continue to fight to save

her son.

The acting in the movie will easily catch the audiences attention. As many people know

Halle Berry is an exquisite actor in all her movies, including Kidnap. According to Danie

Grzywacz, I love seeing a woman, a woman of color, get to save the day (Grzywacz). In most

movies, people see a man saving the day, but in this movie, it is a woman saving the day. Halle

Berrys character made the movie feel surreal by her actions. Sage Correa (Frankie), played the

role of the abducted child. Sage Correas acting was very strong in the movie, he was very

persuasive in making the audience feel for him when he would cry out for help from his mother.

Throughout the movie Halle Berry and Sage Correa nails it with the fierce-full acting of a mother

and son trying to try and find a way back to each other.

Kidnap is a must-see movie that anybody would enjoy. A simple day in the park could

turn a persons life around. Watching this movie is an eye-opener and life lesson for parents and

children. It is also a great recommendation for everyone of all ages. Karla did not hesitate to try

and save her son, she did everything possible by taking actions in her own hands. Kidnap is an

attention grabbing, heart pounding movie that any audience should take the time to watch and

enjoy.
