Fourth Grade Unit on Fractions
Dear Grown Ups,

The upcoming mathematical unit will be based upon fractions. Throughout this unit
your student will be exposed to different types of fractions as well as how to represent
fractions in different ways while using multiple different manipulatives. the students
will be exposed to multiple different educational videos that will give them a deeper
understanding of fractions as well as have the opportunity to add to their interactive
math journals. As we dive deeper into the unit the students will master how to add and
subtract fractions as well as be exposed to how to multiply and divide different
fractions.

This unit contains a total of ten different lesson as well as a culminating experience that
will span over two-week time period. Each of these lessons will not only help your
student have a better understanding of fractions and the different types of fractions
but it will also follow the Common Core Pennsylvania state standards for mathematics.
In order to help you students throughout this lesson, I will share multiple educational
videos, practice activities and mathematical books that will further the students
understanding of fractions. If you have any questions about this unit, please feel free
to call me or send me an email to my school contacts.

Thank you and have a great weekend,
