OBJECTIVES

Share…
- Ways of looking for candidates (reservoir and completion).

- Treatment Fluid Selection.

- Fluid Pumping Strategy.

- Ensure offshore rigless operation.

Compañía:
INTRODUCTION

Do not limit yourself only to:

- Interventions with RIG ($$$).

- Acidifications as the only mean of rigless stimulation.

- Considerable pressure gradients as minimum barrier for frac or acid

(> 1.5 psi / ft).

INTRODUCTION

Block Z-2B (Talara Basin):

• Low K (< 1 mD) sandstone

reservoirs with solution gas drive
mechanism.

• Most of wells are equipped with

GL Installation (90% of them are
BLT type).

CANDIDATE SELECTION

IDENTIFY OPPORTUNITIES – Reservoir Side

- Reservoir Characterization (petrophysics and mineralogy).
- Past response to most stimulation jobs.
- Production behaviour.

PRIORITIZE PROSPECTS – Completion and Geology Side

- Type of completion.
- Structural position (KEY OF SUCCESS: depletion degree), EOR response, so on. Retroactive
With
Stimulation
PILOT WELL Response
- Perform intallation test (ensure good mechanical condition).
- Reservoir fluid characterization.
- Reservoir pressure analysis.

TREATMENT DESIGN
- Chose treatment system.
- Define fluid placement strategy (volumen and rate).
- Economic evaluation (production increase profile vs investment).

DESCRIPTION: From Acid to Breakdown (KK-17 Well)

A Step-Rate-Test was performed to determine the Fracture Extension Pressure and Flow, which had
a value of 3.67 bpm, therefore the treatment was performed at a lower rate (3.5 bpm) to maintain
the matrix flow during acid treatment and above this value for breakdown.

TECHNICAL CONTRIBUTIONS

• Multiples Conventional Hydraulic Fractures can be predicted thru modeling with

high processors computers.

• Signs of depletion during minifrac is not a barrier for hydraulic fracturing (>0.03
psi/ft).

• In mature wells it is possible to restore its production inmediately after pumping

high volumes (> 350 Bbl).
---
• Acidizing is not the only mean to stimulate wells equipped even with BLT GL
Installation.

• When a rigless operation is performed thru a GL Installation the flowback is

performed inmediately (better clean-up process therefore better XLeffective).
Compañía:
APPLICATIONS

• Multiple Conventional Hydraulic Fracturing Modeling can

be done for past completions (below 2013 Year, in case
of Block Z-2B) for better reservoir characterization and
as a mean to look for re-fracturing opportunities.
---
• Apply when BLT GL Installation is equipped with Pkr
(ensure prospect isolation, this is selective treatment).

Compañía:
CONCLUTIONS

• For low K reservoir is far better to complete wells selectively

(perforations must be done in one cluster to promote high length
geometry). Otherwise, there will be un-stimulated intervals.
---
• Faster oil incremental with low investment and few resources thru
Rigless Operations.

• Require offshore platform in good condition (Jacket & Floors) to

guarantee proper HSE Standards.

• Requires good mechanical conditions of BLT GL Installation (without

leaks). This, ensures proper flowback after treatment.
