GALÁPAGOS
THE GALAPAGOS ARCHIPELAGO
19 Islands,
Pacific Ocean;
about 1.000 kilometers away from the South American coast.
On the Galapagos and the surrounding marine reserve, you can find
a lot of special and unique animal species.
This is due to the unique natural processes, such as the ongoing
seismic and volcanic activity and the extremely isolated location of
the islands.
Together, this resulted in the development of the extraordinary
animal life on the Galapagos. For this reason, this marine reserve
has been called a „living museum and showcase of evolution‟.
In 1835 Charles Darwin visited the Galapagos, which contributed to
the development of his theory of evolution.

FUR
Fur is a type of body covering that most mammals have.
Mammals are animals that give birth to their young and their bodies are
always warm
(like us!).
It also protects
animals from
water and
too much
sunlight.
